TRAFFIC ADVISORY If you’re coming to Hollywood Burbank Airport, expect potential traffic delays. We recommend passengers arrive at least two hours before their scheduled flight time. Starting April 20 through June 6, intermittent construction work will close down one lane of traffic on the southbound side of Hollywood Way near Thornton Avenue. Passengers can instead use the Empire Avenue entrance, or enter the airport westbound on Thornton Avenue. The construction will take place - as needed - Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The sidewalk, bike lane and bus stop on the west side of Hollywood Way will also be closed between Winona Avenue and Thornton Avenue.

Only 237 days remain until the scheduled opening of the new passenger terminal. The terrazzo flooring is sparkling, TV monitors and counters have been installed, and the northern-most section of the new passenger facility is entering the final phase of construction! Meanwhile, the process of connecting the silver screen canopy from the front of the terminal to the parking structure has begun. Janice Lee has this month’s Elevate BUR project update.

It goes without saying, but you can’t open a new passenger terminal without providing access to planes. ✈️ Construction crews are now in the process of connecting the facility to our current airfield. Luis Garcia has more on that – and updates from inside the new terminal - in this month’s Elevate BUR project update.

Construction continues in the baggage claim area at our new passenger facility. It will be three times bigger than the ones at our current terminal! And for the first time, it’s possible to see the high ceilings at the front entrance. Senior Program Manager Perry Martin gives us an update from the project site.

If you’re flying out of BUR this month, you might notice planes traveling a different path on the airfield before takeoff. It’s all part of the “apron tie-in” to the new passenger terminal facility! Construction crews worked with airport personnel to ensure there would be no impact on flight operations. Senior Project Engineer Cam Griffin has this month’s construction update.
