…and furthermore, to add an exclamation point to my long winded post this morning about understanding Airgun shotgun load development… 😂 I started off that last post, in memory of Terry Tate who we lost in recent years. Terry helped develop the Umarex Primal Airgun shotgun and was a pioneer in Airgun shotgun technology. He helped me with my talking points during my Airgun Sporting Association testimony at the Michigan State Legislature a few years ago when I testified for Airgun hunting regulations. He was a friend and a legend in our sport. Also, a huge shout out to Element Optics for this Turkey Bino harness rig with 1500 range finder! I set up my Nukem blind in seconds and set my decoys perfectly at 15 yards and marked my “shoot / don’t shoot” range points visually on the ground. This Tom came off the roost and charged my decoys breaking off without fully committing and went behind me at 7 yards! I could hear him spitting and when he gobbled I could see the steam come out of his mouth. He was basically sitting in my lap, but I couldn’t spin around to shoot through the brush. I threw out a few soft clucks with my mouth call and he came back into the decoy set, but then started walking away. He got to that 30 yard marked point I made with my Element Optics 1500 range finder so it was now or never. I pulled up the PBBA 20 gauge shotgun that Terry sent me years ago and put the bead on his head. Flipped off the safety let my custom TSS #9 load with 1/2 ounce of shot in a Federal Flight Control Wad rip through the morning air. Bang! Flop! This one is for you Terry. Miss you brother.
