Hello Friends! We cordially invite you to our spring fundraiser party to support Naga’s life in Golden Gate Park! Creating big art is hard. Getting it placed out in the world is even harder. And maintaining its appearance costs money! We’d love to see you at what is sure to be a magical, bubbly affair on May 9th.

We are selling the fire barrels from Naga and the Captainess! These custom firepits are made from wine casks and imagined to be barrels of hard liquor like rum that caught fire in the chaos of the sinking ship. Our fire team specialists led by @pkropf designed these 5 firepits to run from a single propane manifold. (the tanks do NOT go in the barrels, it's not safe) There are emergency shut offs at each barrel. We have fire glass and lava rock for the burn areas. Asking $6,000 for all or $1,500 each. Obviously our preference is to sell together but if enough people want pieces we can accommodate! Holler at us if interested! Naga can use some help! Hi friends- we are so happy to see you visiting Naga, taking pictures, bringing your friends and family, painting pictures, having parties, and in general making him a part of the community just as we hoped. We still need help. The installation cost more than any of our best estimates and experienced contractors guessed. It’s difficult to even explain the amount of collaboration this massive installation required from inception to playa to final installation in the park. Putting five lighted sculptures in a 100 year old pond with no records, and no electricity costs a lot. Surprise costs far outside the scope we expected included having to do engineering twice as we learned about the mysterious bottom of the pond ($10k), having to hire suction trucks to remove muck from the bottom of the pond ($30k) and having to design and install our own 220V service panel and electrical system ($35k) None of these unexpected expenses were in our initial budget, but once we had final dates, the pond drained, and cranes on the way, we had to go ahead no matter the cost. We made up the difference with credit cards and not paying our lead for her labor, and using what would have been the maintenance budget. We still owe our concrete installer a not-insignificant amount as well. We want Naga to have a long and happy life in the park, and we still hope to raise funds to place the ship, the Aldrovanda, carrying Naga’s precious cargo and other mysteries in the park next to him. At this stage though, for ourselves and our donors, we just need to show we are completing this round of fundraising. If you have the means to help us continue to make magic- we have to refill his bubble tank monthly, maintain his custom bubble machines, and keep the lights on, as well as getting out of install debt. Every little bit helps us keep Naga in the pond, and move us closer to our goal!

If you have the ability to show some financial love- please do! Our generous 501c3 fiscal sponsor Illuminate is passing through 100% of tax deductible donations!

I think I've reached full market saturation as all of my friends have one already- but here's a reminder that these make *perfect* gifts. These bespoke indoor fireplaces are made from fallen Northern California hardwoods. They use a bio-ethanol fuel that burns completely to water vapor and carbon dioxide, making them safe to use indoors (or out). The reservoir holds about half a liter of fuel and burns for 2-1/2 hours, costing a little over $1 an hour to use. It puts out the equivalent of a very small space heater. DM for available stock or to come pick one out. Pictured is Acacia.

#Naga stays cozy in his watery nest, right near the ocean where he can swim away on adventures. Or maybe a ship could come drifting in...

Just thinking about that time I tried to make a sculpture a week before my friend's wedding and I was three hours late but it ended up at an outdoor gallery in Bristol after some other adventures. It always feels a bit like cheating to rely on laser cutting as the primary artistic part of a sculpture- but it's pretty anyway, and far more affordable than some of the nonsense I get up to. Layering cut sheets or adding 3 dimensional elements can help take some of the flatness away. There's no signage on this one so I rarely get tagged, but I do get to see some pictures of people's dogs, friends, dates, and a few weddings here. It's cool to have brightened part of someone's day I'll never meet- one of the weird draws to keep on making art that never pays. 🙃

"Sharon! I can not have bubbles, I'm the prince of f*ing darkness. Evil evil evil what's f'ing evil with all these bubbles?" -Ozzy Osbourne. It's a tough out there but Naga's working hard to keep the darkness away blowing bubbles. Seems to be working . 👌

Indoor smokeless ethanol fireplaces- bespoke pieces made from fallen Northern California trees. Each block selected by a miller to bring out the unique characteristics of the wood. Pictured is "pecky cedar" where a fungus has made inclusions inside the center of the tree. Also available are Walnut, pecan, acacia, yew, oak and more. These use a bio-ethanol fuel that burns completely to water vapor and carbon dioxide at about the rate of a person breathing, making them safe to use indoors without a vent. Prices start at $400. DM for pics of this year's pieces or to set up a time to visit the studio in Richmond and select yours. #smokelessfireplace #ethanolfireplace #miniaturefireplace #cedar

I recently went back to Willits to see how the pinwheels were doing. I realized without a bench to sit on it's hard on the neck to enjoy how mesmerizing they are. The lace I designed with Imogen Speer suits this old logging town so well. I hope I can convince someone there to fund the bench? (where the old 101 meets the 20 to Ft Bragg). While I stopped to take a picture some guys driving by yelled "nobody cares about your instagram post!" 😆 It might be true, but I gotta try, amiright? #publicart #kineticart #pinwheels #womenartists #womenwhoweld #stainlesssculpture
