Intro to Cyanotypes on Fabric!
Friday July 31st
12:30-4:30 PM
This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the cyanotype process on fabric, a historic photographic technique known for its rich blue tones. Students will learn how to work with cyanotype chemicals, create compositions using natural materials and found objects, along with printed photos on film. and expose their designs using sunlight or UV light. The class emphasizes experimentation, layering, and personal expression, resulting in unique textile pieces that can function as art objects or be sewn into wearable works.

For over a decade, NEXT has showcased the work and skills of Corcoran School students, featuring performances, exhibitions, and symposia throughout the campus.
This year during the opening for NEXT, dancers from the Corcoranâs BA in Dance Program activated part of my exhibit with a choreographed dance. I was so honored to be able to see them perform and the way they moved through my exhibit was so emotional and brought me to tears.

this will not protect you (final vs initial inquiries)
When creating the final iteration of this will not protect you, I went through many rounds of plushy guns, different sizes, shapes, and fabrics. Until now, they have been shoved in the corner of my studio, and I havenât thought much about them. Today I decided to photograph some, and I found that even though they didnât make the cut in my final thesis exhibition, they forms still hold possibility. For the final installation, I went with a single giant monochrome pink gun to go with the rest of the work in the exhibit.
My goal going forward is for these forms to be modular, with each installation changing, sometimes singular, sometimes in groups, as well as to keep pushing the form and the way it can accumulate.
Rendered in sagging fabric, the gunâs authority collapses, and attempts to be destroyed. It droops, folds, and caves under its own weight. Each pillow gun sculpture is sewn from familiar textures, worn sheets from childhood bedrooms, pastels reminiscent of domestic comfort.
A gun, an object designed for control and destruction, becomes tender, collapsible, and safe enough to spoon. The irony is not humorous; it is intimate.
Within the domestic sphere, the gun arrives under the promise of protection, yet its presence introduces risk into the very space meant for rest. By translating the weapon into fabric, the work exposes the fragile logic that equates harm with safety.
The irony lies not only in the softness of the weapon, but in our instinct to seek safety in what endangers us. For many, the safety a gun promises is a mirage: one we are taught to trust, even as it turns to dust (or plush) in our hands.

Soft Targets
March 18th to May 14th
Reception: March 18th at 6:30 pm
Grounded in personal experience, Soft Targets emerges from a lifelong negotiation of duality, shaped by the mirrored identity of being a fraternal twin and the divided geography of growing up between two households. Installed within a house-like environment, the exhibition transforms the familiar into the unfamiliar, inviting dialogue around the subtle oscillations between the mundane and the uncanny.
