Today I had the absolute honor of a lifetime to meet Sam Raimi, a Director whose work I've admired for nearly a decade & a half, dating back to when I was 7 years old & watched "Spider-Man" for the first time with my brother! • 3 years ago, after Scott Derrickson unfortunately left the project due to creative differences, I was absolutely THRILLED when I learned that Sam Raimi would be taking over as director for "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", and was excited to see his horror style of directing in a Doctor Strange movie. And now I'm glad he did. Not only did I meet him but he also signed my Darkhold AND Book of Vishanti! • To say he was impressed with the books would be a VAST understatement! For the Book of Vishanti he said to me "This has to be one of the most impressive props I've ever seen" & "I'm amazed at how detailed this is, even with such little screen time". • But for me at least, the real kicker came after he signed my Darkhold. He asked if I had gotten Elizabeth Olsen to sign it. And when I said no he said "Well Aaron, I really hope that one day you have Elizabeth see & sign this book one day. "𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒍, 𝑰 𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌." . 12 years after first seeing Tom Hiddleston's Loki onscreen fighting against the Avengers, I finally had the opportunity to meet this incredible actor & human being! . Still, all these hours later I'm still processing the shock. The fact he took the time to not just say in Loki's tone of voice "Ah, well hello Doctor" but to also compliment the detail of my cosplay really spoke volumes to me. If you would've told child me all those years ago that I would not just meet the main villain of the first Avengers film but also to be invited to A PREMIERE of his Disney+ show within the same 12 month period, I would've said that you were utterly insane! But life has this way of surprising you. . I still can't believe that in just 1 day, I met 5 different actors, and went to 4 different photo ops. And I still have more from my adventures here in Orlando. But my god, I'm so happy I turned out to be wrong when I said there was "absolutely zero chance in hell" I'd ever meet Loki himself. “𝕬𝖍, 𝖞𝖊𝖘. 𝕹𝖔𝖜 𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖎𝖘 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖚𝖓𝖉𝖊𝖓𝖎𝖆𝖇𝖑𝖊 𝖛𝖎𝖘𝖆𝖌𝖊 𝖔𝖋 𝖆 𝖙𝖗𝖚𝖊 𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖈𝖍.” • Bonjour, my friends. I hope you’ve all been well. I do apologize for my lack of uploads, though in my defense since I got back, my Creative Labs course this quarter has been BRUTAL 😅. However during my 1st quarter & Spring Break, I was hard at work building this: Wiccan’s new comic book suit from Wiccan: Witches’ Road. • Like Maleficent before him, this project faced numerous obstacles before even a single stitch could be made—patterning and fabrics chief among them. Unlike Maleficent, this time I wasn’t working from a live-action reference that already existed in physical form. Instead, I had to take a 2D comic design and translate it into a fully realized 3D costume, without pre-made patterns, and while issues were still being released. • Nonetheless, I decided that I’d at least try and finish before issue 5 released. I ended up sourcing all of my fabrics from a local market, selecting Red Heavy Cotton & Black Lycra Cotton for both their stretch/flow and visual accuracy to the reference material. I’m incredibly proud of what came out of that process. This costume required techniques including computer-aided design modeling, 3D printing, digital textile printing, structural garment reinforcement, and light metalwork for the belt. Like Maleficent, I made my own custom pattern for the suit, modeled all 3D printed components in Blender 5.0, and used a textile inkjet printer to recreate the blue detailing seen in-panel. • I wouldn’t say this one was as difficult to assemble as Maleficent was last year, but the planning and translation phase was just as intense. However, all of that planning and hard work did pay off in the end. • With just five months to go until DragonCon, I’m already looking forward to bringing this version of Wiccan to this years Witches meetup. “𝒞𝓁𝒶𝓈𝓈𝒾𝒸” • Hard to believe I built my Maleficent Billy cosplay nearly a year ago and I’m only just NOW having professional photos taken. But here it is — my first batch from this year’s Hair of the Dragon! The event was the perfect excuse to bring him out of retirement, and seeing the cosplay in high resolution is such a surreal feeling. • For this photoshoot, I tried my best to recreate a few of the iconic shots from Episode 7 of Agatha All Along, including posing with Tarot cards. Seeing all those little details I built myself — the spiked collar, flowing robes, and vibrant fabrics — captured in high-res really makes me proud I pushed through even when this project seemed impossible. • A huge thank you again to @markstercon for having me as a Featured Cosplayer at this year’s HOTD. It started off incredibly awful. 2 weeks into the New Year, car crash & had to be taken to the ER. Then, surgery to remove a tumor from my chest (I’m still VERY sorry for all the incoherent stuff I wrote btw 😂). But then in March, my Mother…💔 • Yet, somehow despite all of that, the year only got better from there ❤️‍🩹. This year I got to do things that I didn’t think were possible; beginning with the construction of my Maleficent Billy suit in February. When I first took on the project, I really didn’t think I could build something so big & intricate all on my own. Yet after 2.5 months, he was done and he looked PHENOMENAL. So much so he might’ve been partially responsible for me getting into my current school 🤭. • And at this year’s DragonCon, even if part of me didn’t want to go because of mom, I only went to walk in the Parade & attend the Witches Coven Meetup. And I’m so glad I did. I had so much fun singing the Ballad, getting to see old friends & meet new ones alike, and getting to walk in the parade after dreaming about it for almost 10 years. Plus I made my first ever DragonCon ribbons! I cannot wait for next years meetup already, you guys really made me feel like I had found my family all over again! 💙🥹 • And to fully wrap up the year, I had one of the best weekends of my life at SpaceCon! I got to meet several of my childhood heroes like Ian McDiarmid, Jeremy Renner & even Carrie Anne Moss! But today is my 24th birthday & I pulled a near all nighter working on this edit. Obligatory birthday post if you will 🤣 • The edit is based on the cover art for Wiccan Witches Road issue 1, however I decided to put my own spin on it rather than simply translating the comic art into live action. And I’d be lying if I didn’t admit it was pretty painful getting the pose just right 😅. I must say, I think I was more nervous to meet her than anyone else, which is saying something. It was worth it though. 🖤 • From the moment the con announced her as a guest, I was dead set on meeting her while cosplaying as Neo from The Matrix. Those movies were my first exposure to her work, plus my stepdad, who introduced me to the Matrix told me he’d be very disappointed in me if I didn’t meet Trinity herself as Neo 😂. Obviously I had to do the bullet-time pose WITH THE SHADES ON, I hope you’re happy, Dad! 😎 • The cherry on top? Carrie telling me that I looked weeeee bit like Keanu Reeves. Like I’m sorry, WHAT?! Surely you must be joking!! I remember feeling a whole mix of emotions when I sat down to watch it for the first time. I’m gonna try to get through this... 😭 • This episodes trial hit me in the feels much harder than any of the other 4. There truly is no force in the universe more powerful than a mother’s love. And boy were some heartbreaking lines in that one: • “Agatha, am I killing this boy so that my brother can live?!” “No Billy, sometimes..boys die” • I’ll briefly mention that I got really ecstatic when Wiccan showed up to save the day (kinda) in his suit. And the reveal that The Witches Road was created by Billy? Didn’t see that coming, especially since I thought they’d follow the comics. • Episode 9 with more of Agatha’s backstory? Heartbreaking episode, Kathryn Hahn’s performance really nails the desperation and vulnerability that Agatha feels as she tries to stop Death from taking her son, and later using her grief, and by extension the song they created as a means to increase her own power. • I am very excited to see what happens next with Agatha Harkness & Billy Kaplan/Wiccan.
