Known by his birth name, Sven-Åke Kenneth Högberg (born December 12, 1944), this guitarist and retro rockabilly artist has left an indelible mark on the genre. Hank C. Burnette began playing in the early 1960s while running a record shop. After releasing music on small labels in Belgium and the U.S., he achieved a major international breakthrough in 1976 with “Spinning Rock Boogie.” This hit — recorded in Högberg’s home studio with multiple layers of guitar played at lightning speed — earned him a contract with the legendary SUN label.
