This Sunday, the Elastro series is excited to welcome Philadelphia artist apologist @childfree_milf to town as they tour the midwest. We’ll first experience performances from Chicago artists Itsï Ramirez and erψn temp3st.
Rose Actor-Engel aka apologist is a Philadelphia based musician and composer. She uses synthesizer, tape and field recordings to create confessional ambient music, implementing specific rules and protocols to determine structure. She has been recording/performing as Apologist since 2018. Itsï Ramirez is a Chicago based composer. Stepping out of the naturalized preoccupation with sound as sound, she takes on the project of recovering a new music that has been forgotten.
This Sunday will feature a special performance by @ph0sphor_burn_out
Molecular Incantations\|/Sonic Telepathy (MIST) is an evolving sound and movement performance from erψn temp3st that explores material intimacy through vibration, resonance, and feedback. A radical integration of machine and body, MIST broaches notions of analogue cyborgism, challenging the technofascist, transhumanist ideals of efficiency, individualism, and control. In a time when the world’s landfills are overflowing with electronic waste, MIST insists on an image of the cyborg that is implicated in lineages of resource extraction, planned obsolescence, and colonial flows of trash disposal. It rejects the vision of a high-tech, robotic ubermensch as a fascistic Silicon Valley fever dream, rather envisioning the cyborg as a vibrant assemblage, a trash heap enlivened by mysterious electronic and material alliances.

TONIGHT!! Hameedullah + Desiring Machines (Norman Long & Janna Lee)!!
At this evening’s Elastro series we present a solo set from producer/DJ Hameedullah and a new duo from Janna Lee and Norman Long called Desiring Machines.
Hailing from Chicago, educator, beatmaker, and DJ, Hameedullah takes and blends from his disciplines to create music and experiences that are uniquely his own. Under his label Lunt and Oglesby, the artist’s passion for vinyl, DJ’ing, and electronic music is platformed and championed through his self-released projects, inventive programming, and YouTube content. For his Elastro set, Hameedullah will perform and assemble live sound collages and dance music through his Elektron Digitakt and Korg Kaoss Pad.
Desiring Machines use their shared experience as people of color who came of age in the 90s as a springboard, translated into a post-structural/industrial exploration of modular synthesizer, heavy beats, and ghostly vocals. Music at 8pm!
This Saturday, the one and only @__hameedullah performs at @elasticarts for the Elastro series.
