Jews for Racial and Economic Justice held a “Seder in the Streets: MELT Pharaoh’s ICEy Heart!” on the 6th night of Passover, calling for an end to the Trump Administration’s cruel policies on immigration. In advance of a short march by all to the offices of Palantir, a tech company which works in collusion with ICE, a group of protestors from the organization occupied the lobby and were later arrested. In observance of Trans Day of Visibility, over fifty transgender women and their allies participated in “The Doll Walk” marching topless from Columbus Circle to Trump Tower. The satirical ‘gender reveall’ exhibition and demonstration was created by trans activist and comedian Ashley Ryan in response to the Trump Administration’s executive order to use one’s gender marker assigned at birth on a US passport, eradicating one of the hard fought rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. The joyful and sarcastic demonstration called for touting the rights their ‘male identity’ afforded them, including the right to be topless in public. Local officials joined hundreds of community members to raise the Pride flag at the Stonewall National Monument just days after the Trump administration had it removed it from the site. Activists then reinstalled the Pride flag to fly at the same height as the American flag, which the National Park Service had put in place of the original flag.
