Sound and movement. What an iconic duo. 🔉💃🏿🧘‍♀️ I open up about my tumultuous journey with sound and movement, from grunge music to clubbing ,gigs and concerts. A dance floor is a dance floor and eventually leading to movement in ceremonial spaces with the intention of releasing trapped and stored emotions in the body. 💜💜 I later speak about the journey my voice has been through in the past 2 years of learning to be comfortable on stage while singing by exposing myself to jazz jam sessions, blues open mics, live performances , sound baths and ceremonial spaces.✨✨🌸 It was important for me to get comfortable using my voice because it’s a channel for healing and truth. Hey lovelies ✨✨ been a min since I’ve posted anything on here. Here is a wee tune for those who love melancholy and nirvana and grungy vibes. I’m currently rooting my essence on Zimbabwe soil and soaking up the sun rays for resting and topical steroid withdrawal (tsw) healing purposes. 🔆🇿🇼 I started writing this song in 2023 when I first moved to Glasgow feeling so lost and confused. Everything lookers smooth on the external but internally I was like the fuck is happening. I finished writing th song in 2024 December for a live performance where I first performed with a band. Amazing times with @swampy_sarah , @michiel_____ and Chrissy bell. This was after my tsw journey began. I remember how much pain and agony I was in around this time. Words can’t even begin to describe the feeling of having to perform in such a raw and vulnerable space while my skin was shedding like a snake. 🐍 I knew at this point the only way through was to go in and unravel all the layers of my identity so something new can emerge. Since I arrived in Zimbabwe, my ego has just been dying fo. Things I thought I knew don’t quite make sense. I had to surrender to a higher a power and truly accept that I don’t know anything. My faith has never been stronger than before because I trust in whatever is emerging. It has been a journey of alchemising pain into power. It’s important for women to speak about their periods and cycles. Sharing information can help someone who has been struggling and think they are going mad but it just be a women’s health thing. Spain now gives women payed menstrual leave up to 5 days a month to rest during their periods like that’s incredible. That wouldn’t have happened if we stayed silent ✨✨ Tsw has been a blessing and enabled me to listen to my body and tune into my bodies cycles. I noticed my skin would flare around my period. Turns out it’s due to the eating decisions I make. Last two weeks I’ve been locked in with diet , exercise and looking after upstairs and my skin hasn’t flared. I’ve reduced inflammation and understood more about my body type using Ayurveda knowledge and I’m in shock. 😮 Started to be annoyed at my past self like why didn’t I listen earlier I had this info but didn’t put it into practice then removed that shame and guilt. You do shit when you’re ready. We got there eventually and no point in wasting energy on what ifs x I’m always gonna be an advocate for vocalising your truth. It’s not good to keep stuff in. It makes you sick. We live in a different world from our mothers and grandmothers and we have so much to learn from them but also so much to evolve from traditions that suppress rather that express the divine feminine energy. ✨✨🌕🌑 Also food is fucking medicine man. Never amazed how much our bodies are so responsive to the right input. Highly recommend @cycle.shala for understanding women’s health using Ayurveda techniques.
