I just wanted to say thank you to all the fantastic people who came to @ceramicartlondon this weekend and who helped make it all happen. It was the most amazing long weekend. I’m still processing it all and have lots of people to contact but special thanks must go to Suzie Curtis, everyone at @craftpotters , @sue_mundy , all the organisers, volunteers and staff; to all my fellow exhibitors especially my outstanding stand neighbours @rachelholianceramics and @sirukdesign (winner of the newcomer award!), the most helpful show assistant @marija_bichan and all the fantastic visitors who came and made it the best show ever.
I might have to sleep at least for a week now!

Meet the Makers that shape Sussex!

This immersive, small-group experience will take you straight into rarely opened workshops of some of the region’s most talented craftspeople. Spaces are limited to only eight guests so book early!

Set at the foot of the South Downs, the small village of Ditchling has long been known for artistry, making, and independent thought, and it continues to shape the makers who work there today - this is where this Studio Safari is headed….
The first stop will be to meet Will Spankie, sculptor and letter cutter in stone and wood who works from a hidden-away stonemason’s yard at the foot of Ditchling Beacon where he creates beautiful stone sculptures.
Then we will head to the centre of Ditchling village to visit the atmospheric jewellery workshop of Pruden and Smith who continue the legacy of craftsmanship spanning generations. You will meet Rebecca Smith who will show you the process of creating truly handmade jewellery - from raw precious metal, with every detail shaped, refined, and finished in their Sussex workshop.
In the afternoon, the Safari will head onto Ditchling Common where Elaine Sheppard Bolt has her ceramics studio. Her exquisite work is in great demand from collectors and includes sculptural work, hand-built wall pieces and thrown vessels, made in porcelain and stoneware and mixed-media.
You will be joined by guide Jess - founder of Sussex Craft Week & ROSA Magazine

A selection of framed wall pieces are coming with me to @ceramicartlondon - They feature small coloured porcelain pieces and found objects and are inspired by walks and places - each one has a story. Everything is getting carefully packed up and ready for the set up and it opens on Thursday evening. Looking forward to seeing friends and meeting new people! Hope you can make it.

MEET THE MAKER | ELAINE SHEPPARD BOLT
@elainebolt creates sculptural porcelain and stoneware forms and wall-pieces, combining throwing, hand-building, coloured clays, layered glazes and found objects, that work together to suggest a story or explore an idea. Her current work focuses on playful narrative pieces investigating the places where nature and human activity meet, inviting viewers to bring their own meanings to the forms.
