variants and close ups for @bibsama and @tayoloxs new project
This project allowed me to almost reexpirement with my art process entirely, shaping my rendering, color confidence, creative thinking and comfortability overall. I branched from my usual portraits and human towards most fantastical and metalic things. My mind got accustomed to thinking about two sources of light and how they operate on a piece as well as composition. I really enjoyed my time making this and i hope for who ever reads this that you enjoy it more than me.
I will get better. 🙂↕️

🌹🚬👀
our main character faces away from the group, a tense moment as none can look each other in the eye. The only connection is with cigarettes it can only be deduced that the group is her friend, but why is she turned away and so far? Could the be a disagreement? Fond memories? Brutal judgement?

Bad Kids : music, art, and the concept of being ok with not being ok
-

-
For the past month things have been very difficult, especially emotionally and mentally. In that time I found myself listening to more indie genres like N.E.R.D and the rock genre in general. These songs and genres often tackle a broad range of emotions and concerns: from sadness and nostalgia to problems of society and the flaws in oneself. With this in mind I considered that these weren’t just ‘depressing songs’ but rather songs about the woes in life. This is a way of expression, a way of healing, acknowledging the pain and allowing themselves to feeling it and express it. With that I opted to draw a band in my own vision. The title of this piece “Bad kids” is a play on words for Band Kids. Both can be looked at as an outcast stereotype. Something that doesn’t fit, something that is flawed. Something bad. I hoped to invoke a sensation of nostalgia and an odd bittersweet sadness in my art the same way some of the songs do. To have a band so full on energy but missing something. Because that’s what healing/ working on yourself should feel like.
It’s ok to be damaged
It’s ok to be broken
It’s ok to be a ‘bad kids’
as long as you heal properly
Ted talk is over.
