Today, standing at the Georgia State Capitol, I did not stand there for myself. I stood there for every mother who cries herself to sleep missing her son. Every child waiting on a father to come home. Every family carrying the weight of a life sentence with no hope attached to it. Every returning citizen trying to rebuild their life while society keeps reminding them of their past.
As I stood at that podium, I felt the spirit of those who came before us. The courage of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The fearlessness of Malcolm X. The determination of every voice that refused to stay silent in the face of injustice.
I realized in that moment that God never brought me through prison, pain, rejection, and struggle just for me to survive. He brought me through so I could speak for the people who feel forgotten. So I could stand for the voiceless. So I could remind families that hope still lives here.
To every incarcerated man and woman watching this, do not give up on yourself.
To every family carrying pain, keep believing.
To every returning citizen trying to find their footing again, your past does not cancel your purpose.
This was bigger than a speech.
This was purpose.
This was healing.
This was proof that God can take the broken pieces of a life and turn them into a voice powerful enough to shake rooms and touch hearts.
I count it an honor and privilege to serve as the Goodwill Ambassador of Georgia and to continue fighting for our people, our families, and our future.
