Einstein medical student Raena Greenbaum received the Outstanding Poster Award in the Lens Section at the 2026 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Annual Meeting.
Following her award-winning poster presentation, Raena was invited to deliver a podium presentation on her research, which examines the real-world use of advanced technology intraocular lenses in cataract surgery patients with ocular comorbidities.
Conducted under the mentorship of Anurag Shrivastava, M.D., alongside collaborators Jack Gu, Neelima Dosakayala, M.D., and Olivia Allen, M.D., her work highlights the impactful research being conducted by Einstein students and faculty.

Einstein Hosts 3rd Annual Community Week 🩺
Improving the health of the Bronx community and beyond was the focus of the 3rd Annual Community Week hosted by the office of community engagement and outreach. The week featured a two-part lecture series, science mini-talks, a student panel, and a screening of The Calling: A Medical School Journey, featuring Einstein students.
Clarel Antoine, M.D., professor of obstetrics and gynecology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, delivered the 12th Annual Dr. Roger Duvivier Lecture, “Surgical Stewardship at Cesarean Delivery.”
Jonathan Teyan, M.P.A., president and CEO of the Associated Medical Schools of New York, delivered the 3rd Annual Dr. Ed Burns Lecture, “Advocacy in Science and Medicine.”
The week also featured research presentations and discussions centered on “Science in the Bronx and Beyond,” with Einstein scientists and researchers sharing work aimed at advancing healthcare, advocacy, education, and community impact.

PRIME Research Day Celebrated 🧠 The 5th annual Psychiatry Research Institute at Montefiore Einstein (PRIME) Research Day brought together researchers, clinicians, trainees, and students for a day of presentations, collaboration, and scientific exchange focused on mental health, addiction, and behavioral health research.
Held at Einstein’s Price Center/Block Research Pavillion, the event featured oral presentations, poster sessions, keynote talks, and recognition of outstanding emerging investigators. A highlight of the day was a keynote address from Nora D. Volkow, M.D., director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, a part of the NIH, who also received the PRIME Distinguished Scientist Award.

Albert Einstein College of Medicine welcomed more than 100 attendees to its inaugural Start-Up Showcase, marking an exciting milestone in the institution’s continued growth in commercialization and innovation. The event brought together biotech companies built on Einstein discoveries with potential investors, industry leaders, faculty, board members, and alumni.
Seven high-potential start-ups took the stage, each presenting novel therapies and platforms—many already advancing into clinical trials. From cancer and autoimmune immunotherapies to innovative drug delivery approaches, the showcase reflected the depth and impact of translational research at Einstein.

The 2026 Faculty Promotions Party honored 110 faculty members who were promoted to senior professor rank at Einstein in 2025, a milestone recognizing years of dedication, perseverance, and impact.
Hosted by Yaron Tomer, M.D., the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean at Einstein and chief academic officer at Montefiore Einstein, and organized by the office of faculty affairs and strategic planning, the evening brought together colleagues and leaders from across the institution. Together, they celebrated not only individual achievements, but also the mentorship, collaboration, and community that make these accomplishments possible.

Established by Einstein’s graduate programs in the biomedical sciences, the award honors a select group of Ph.D. students in memory of pioneering molecular biologist and mentor Julius Marmur, Ph.D.

Out in full stride for wildlife 🏃♀️🐾 As a sponsor for this year’s Wildlife Conservation Society (@thewcs ) Run for the Wild at the Bronx Zoo (@bronxzoo ), Montefiore Einstein was proud to support an event that brought together more than 5,700 participants to raise awareness and funds for wildlife conservation. This year’s run highlighted the endangered red panda.
After the 5K and 3K events, participants got to enjoy all-day admission to the zoo, including ZUMBA instruction, interactive wildlife characters, music, games, face painting, and more. It was great to see members of our Einstein community come out in support.
