A weekend of travel with my OGs to celebrate with one of our bestest Pals! Welcome to the 40ās Club @becamc7 you throw one hell of a party, Happy Birthday āļøš
I have a deep appreciation for the arts because I was exposed to it at a young age. My parents introduced me to musicals, plays and films. Then I went to secondary school and the people I met and the teachers that were there encouraged supported and honoured the arts.
We did three shows in my time in secondary School each one of those bettered the previous one. We were proud to represent the school when we were performing and then we were given the opportunity to perform in Mount Joy for prisoners under the guardianship of John Lonergan.
Back then we were on stage as a team students and teachers most notably Peter Nolan and Noel Wade and playing in the band by Anthony Keane, supported by all the faculty who stood proudly beside and behind us. John White and Anne Kelly where our leaders and without them I donāt think I would be doing what I do today. I have so much gratitude for every teacher who ever inspired or encouraged me.
Hartstown community school was always a safe space to create. And tonight reconnecting with old friends remind me of how special those early arts moments are. 28 years later and a group of people who shared a magic experience were excited to sit side-by-side in the theatre and watch the younger generation play the parts of dreams. The laughs and the stories reminded me of how much fun school was but it was only that way because of the people around us we were a lucky bunch and we still are. My first ever scene partner was not with us, but I am pretty sure I heard him laugh at some of the stories.
The arts are magic and there should be a place for everyone.
2025 had a lot of highlights but stepping back on stage since before Covid was one of them. @petetombstones asked me to give DIY PLAY a go at The @civictheatretallaght and it was the best craic. No rehearsals just the audience telling you how the story goes - easy! Well it was a bloody joy with @o.geniemc and @ais_breen

We stared with sequence (of course itās Drew) and some flags. It wasnāt enough. Iām dreadful at explaining things clothes related I started āhear me out⦠you rememberā. @kathystrachan already had an idea, I stopped. Sheās cutting gold material and pinning it on.
āHow about a cocktail shaker, pouring the drink into a glass?ā She says. I literally watched the cogs in their brains turn as they started to create it. I LOVED it š„°
Then the wizards on the truck waved their wands and there was another ālookā to bring to set.
I felt like Cinderella every day with a load of fairy godmothers working magic. #legends #artists #magicians #creatives
