FINAL WEEK!
A NATURAL PARADOX
19 September until 21 December 2025
Eileen Neff & Betsy Green
The differences in the work of Betsy Green and Eileen Neff may strike first; but their parallel and abiding affection for the natural world announces a more penetrating connection and their desire to be present for it, one way or another.

PHILADELPHIA ARTISTS RESIST | November 21 – 23, 2025 @ Huddle
Opening 11/21, 6-9 pm | Exhibition open 11/22 & 11/23, 12-6 pm
On the weekend of November 21, a nationwide initiative: Fall of Freedom is taking place.
In the face of the rise of an authoritarian regime, artists all over America are asking themselves what their
role could & should be. Dread Scott—who helped form the initiative—asked artists Diane Burko &
Melanie Baker (who both show with him at Cristin Tierney Gallery in NYC) to organize an event in
Philadelphia—the city where American democracy was born.
They have organized PHILADELPHIA ARTISTS RESIST, a pop-up exhibition featuring artists based in
the Philadelphia area whose works challenge the issues of our times.
The artists featured are of varying ages, identities, backgrounds, and practices—but the unifying thread
is their collective emphasis on diversity, freedom, advocacy, and resisting injustice & authoritarianism in
their work.
The show weaves together many modes of resistance: from the adoption of protest language to the
subversion of traditional American iconography and representations of American calamity and decay—all
the works resist the rise of authoritative rule, aim to make unheard voices heard, and forefront repressed
histories, as we currently face increasingly exploitative systems and the rise of American fascism.
Participating artists include: Melanie Baker, Reade Bryan, The Dufala Brothers, Diane Burko, Catia
Colagioia, Heide Fasnacht, Mark Thomas Gibson, Sharon Hayes, Joe Heidecker, Gabe Martinez, Sarah
McEneaney, Eileen Neff, Matt Neff, Rachel Selekman, Jonathan Wahl, Ed Waisnis, Jordan Weber &
Charlotta Westergren.
The exhibition will be held at Huddle, a creative gathering & exhibition space at 338 Brown St, in
Northern Liberties from November 21-23, coinciding with the nationwide calendar of Fall of Freedom
events.
This pop-up was made possible by the generous support of J2/Huddle, and Judith K. Brodsky, founder
of The Brodsky Center at PAFA.

ARTWORK: Eileen Neff
As defined, a paradox is a statement that appears to be contradictory, but upon closer examination, often reveals a deeper truth. The differences in the work of Betsy Green and Eileen Neff may strike first; with the heightened saturation of Betsy’s images and Eileen’s more modest palette; with Betsy’s attachment to the physical act of photographing in the landscape, as opposed to Eileen’s necessary retreat to the studio to reconsider/reimagine her landscape experiences. But their parallel and abiding affection for the natural world announces a more penetrating connection and their desire to be present for it, one way or another. Exhibiting their work together offers a complex and illuminating dialogue, one that is supported by the strong awareness of art history’s related embraces of Nature, embedded in the work of both artists.
American artist Eileen Neff lives and works in Philadelphia. Betsy Green is an American/Dutch artist living and working in Amsterdam.
