Ever since I was a child, I was drawn to mysteries—not just in books or films, but in life itself. I was fascinated by things that felt just out of reach, layered with meaning I didn’t yet understand. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t resist the enigma of a composer whose name kept coming up. I first heard about him from my mom. She told me he wasn’t just a musician—he was a visionary with radical ideas. He believed that art could be a form of religion, that music had the power to transform the world. To him, composing wasn’t just about creating beauty; it was a sacred act. He saw himself as a kind of spiritual leader—a Messiah, because of his belief in the transcendental force of music. Of course I am talking about Alexander Scriabin. This intrigued me. A composer who saw sound as a cosmic experience? Someone who believed music could elevate human consciousness? I had to know more. But at my school, no one played his music, even though students performed insanely difficult works by other composers, his was left untouched. His music was reserved for the ā€œafter school ageā€ā€”for conservatory students, for Bachelors and Masters. And this only made me more curious. Years later, when I finally decided to dive in, I started with Sonata No. 4. That’s when I first encountered the true complexity of his world. His music was deeply emotional, harmonically bold, and strangely spiritual. It felt like it came from another dimension. But at the same time, something was missing. ā¬…ļø swipe to continue reading šŸ“– šŸ™Special thanks to @prosperoclassical for the release of this album, to @benedikt_alphart for his amazing mastering work and to Gesellschaft Freunde der KUG for the sound postproduction support! šŸ“· @deniszhdanovpianist Concept & design: @elinaakselrudphotography . #Scriabin #AlexanderScriabin #ScriabinSonatas #CompleteScriabin #PianoAlbum #AlbumRelease #ClassicalMusic #ClassicalPiano #SoloPiano #PianoPerformance #PianoMastery #MusicHistory #Synesthesia #MysticalMusic #PianoRecording #ComposerLife #ModernClassical #MusicalJourney #ScriabinWorld #MusicExploration #SoundAndColor #ClassicalMusician #ArtisticVision #ElinaAkserud

Taking a hard look at the old trajectories, roles, and habits that have been around for decades. It’s really (r.e.a.l.l.y.) up to each of us to decide what will actually stay in the next chapter and what must go immediately. Thinking of it less like a ā€œchangeā€ and more like a necessary recalibration. That strange, suspended space between what was and what’s coming next. Sometimes it’s cool, sometimes it’s rough. How have you been so far?

Non-legato does not mean dry or percussive. At soft dynamics it becomes a delicate articulation that gives the music clarity, space, and elegance. The 1-hr long video course on Scriabin’s famous [the only *easier*] Etude in C-sharp minor, Op. 2 No. 1 is discounted for one more day, hurry up! Large chords don’t have to sound heavy. The key is learning how to balance the voices so the harmony remains full while the sound stays soft and controlled. The 1-hr long video course on Scriabin’s famous [the only *easier*] Etude in C-sharp minor, Op. 2 No. 1 is still discounted! I can never get used to the idea of *enough*. I nearly always think that I could have done something better or provided a better guidance/instruction/explanation… comment if this feeling is familiar to you btw! 🫠 I recorded an intro lecture for a MASSIVE course bundle for you today… I felt that I was not giving much content in it, just an overview — but somehow it came out being twice longer than I thought! šŸ™ˆšŸ˜ I should probably stop underestimating my abilities to lecture, instruct, and explain. ā˜ŗļø Anyway, details soon.

What happens when the melody holds a long note while the accompaniment keeps moving? Learning how to protect the melody despite the piano’s natural decay is one of the most important skills in pianistic balance. The 1-hr long video course on Scriabin’s famous [the only *easier*] Etude in C-sharp minor, Op. 2 No. 1 is out today! Discounted for a week! Recently I found myself in a situation that made me think seriously about professional boundaries and ethical values in our field. Swipe to read. P.S. the last image is just a proof that I am not lying about my credentials. . . . . #pianoteacher #pianolessons #musicteacher #elinaakselrud

An interesting melody is not created by dynamics alone. It lives in micro-phrasing — subtle shaping within each note, gesture, and direction that brings the line to life… …don’t forget that my last Scriabin Sonata video course — on Sonata No. 1 — is now finally OUT! Last, but BIGGEST: 4 (four!) hours of instruction! 🫠 The course demo is on YouTube and the full course is currently discounted for one more day, hurry! Reestablishing connections isn’t always easy. (Especially connections with one’s own self.) Who are you? Who am I?…
