as the sun goes down on this sunny sunday, a spotlight goes up on my friend farah,
who l often found in the shadowy womb of coho theatreās seats when I walked in to rehearse for her play
āBY ANY MEANSā ā pensive, with a concerned look on her face like a loving parent about their child.
I met farah when a mutual friend put us in contact to workshop a character for this play when it was still in incubation.
over the course months of zoom calls, politically charged conversations, multiple drafts and read throughs - i saw a piece of art birthed through farah in a truly collaborative manner, my respect for her as a person + her creative process growing each step along the way.
almost every interaction weāve had has felt as honest and intense as her work, full of unmistakable humanness and passion.
āmischievous gravitasā
flowers for farah š

2 weekends ago i took these community portraits of people in portland celebrating young black men -
my heart was full with each interaction and burst of energy every person brought to the backdrop.
any opportunity to document this sort of encouraging & uplifting energy is a gift.
bless @wordisbondpdx , @1803fund & @creativehomies_studio for creating the container for such love to pour out, and good energy to flow.
the world is wild, yet there is beauty, big smiles and plenty love.
every photo in this series feels special - iāll have the full set on my behance page (the linkās in my bio).
āonly if you say itās my birthday weekā

rebby has been one of my coolest and consistent friends/collaborators/ conspirators at this point in my lifeā¦
iāve enjoyed seeing how they allow their life + art to inform each other, and getting to know them as a person.
i met them at a very chaotic moment and their energy reminded me to channel the chaos; to embrace being raw in my own expression.
itās a blessing to study the people i know in an almost anthropological way, and a beautiful thing to have so many of my teachers in this life be friends and loved ones.
⦠so many fire signs ā¦
