Our relationships with First Nations communities are invaluable to us. We’re committed to creating and upholding a collaborative approach to improve the design, delivery, and implementation of our Indigenous energy efficiency programs.
That’s why we’re so happy to share that we’re hosting our fifth Indigenous Energy Efficiency Working Group session! This in-person event is an opportunity for First Nation communities to provide feedback for consideration in the development of our 2027-30 efficiency plan to ensure accessibility and equity of our offers — and we’re inviting First Nation Leadership and Housing to join us.
If you’re travelling from outside of Winnipeg, we’ll cover the cost for two individuals from each Manitoba First Nation Community and Tribal Council to attend.
When: May 27 & 28, 2026
Where: Victoria Inn, Winnipeg

Behind the work we do here at Efficiency Manitoba, there are some pretty incredible moms!
We sat down with a few of them to hear about their experiences with motherhood. Their answers are honest and thoughtful, and they share some great advice, too!
To the new moms, the experienced moms, and all the different paths in between, we see you and we’re celebrating you today.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Meet Jana, our Manager of Strategic Initiatives! She works alongside technical experts and marketing-focused team members to find innovative ways to help Manitobans get the most of our offers for technologies like heat pumps and solar.
Her passion for energy efficiency runs deep. So when it was time to upgrade her home’s air conditioning unit, the decision was clear to upgrade to a cold climate air source heat pump. This energy-efficient and eco-friendly system provides heating and cooling in one unit, making it a smart choice for families and our environment. Plus, our Air Source Heat Pump Rebate made Jana’s upgrade even more affordable than installing a new air conditioning unit.
Outside of supporting her team at work, Jana supports her team at home, instilling energy efficiency in their everyday routines. She, her husband, and her two daughters are all multi-sport athletes — Jana even competed in the Masters National Soccer Championships last fall!
Even with a busy schedule, she still finds time to unplug and enjoy what Manitoba has to offer, spending her weekends camping with her family throughout the summer.

Want to lower your energy use at home? Start with these five quick tips:
1. Switch to LED lighting. LEDs use less energy and last much longer than incandescent bulbs.
2. Adjust your thermostat. Lowering it by 3°C when you’re asleep or away from home can add up to real savings! Keep in mind, if you have a ground source or air source heat pump, you can set it and forget it. They perform better by maintaining a steady temperature — no setback required.
3. Use small appliances. Prepare meals in your toaster oven, pressure cooker, or air fryer rather than your oven.
4. Air-dry when you can. Skip the dryer and hang clothes to dry on warmer spring days.
5. Unplug unused electronics. Devices can still draw power even when they’re turned off.
If you want to save even more energy (and money) we can help! We offer programs and rebates to make energy efficiency upgrades in your home easy and more affordable.
