This morning we held our first Business Partnership Forum at the stunning Newbattle Abbey College.
It was great to get our Business partners together for some networking and providing feedback on what they are looking for. We value all our feedback from our partners.

We welcomed Hannah from TaxAssist Accountants into Newbattle High School to do some work with the pupils here. Also Hannah visited her old stomping ground earlier in the month at Penicuik High. It was great to have Hannah visit 2 of our schools.
We also had Holly from The Craneware Group visit our cohort at Craigmount High School today and got hands on with our activities and a great group of pupils.

It was great to have Louise & Isaac from Change Waste Recycling visit the pupils at Galashiels Academy yesterday ♻️
They had the chance to speak to pupils about Change Waste, their stories and what opportunities are out there for them when they leave school followed by a session ran by Lisa where they got involved in our outcome based activities.💙

We had the pleasure of welcoming Jon Norton from Barefoot Accounting into Grangemouth High School yesterday to speak to the pupils about his story, his company and what he looks for when hiring staff. 💙🩵
A very engaging session ran by JR which got everyone thinking and working as a team.
It is great to welcoming businesses into the schools and bridge that gap between schools and employers.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming Erica Roberts from Elev8 Social to Queensferry High School 💙🩵
Erica spoke about her pathway after leaving school, attending dance college in London, moving back to Edinburgh and finding a passion for social media where she now manages many organisations social media platforms 📷
The pupils at Queensferry were super engaged and asked plenty of questions about all things social media.
We look forward to continuing to work with all our Business Partners by inviting them in to our schools to see our sessions being delivered.

On Friday, we welcomed Craig from Spruce Garden Services/ Puzzled Monkey Landsdapes to visit Leith Academy ⚒️
Craig shared his story of getting started in the Gardening and Landscape industry and how he worked a number of jobs before realising that this was the way forward for him. Starting 15 years ago and building his client base on word of mouth to now employing 30 employees and having 12 vans on the road. 🚚
We look forward to working work Craig & the team for further school visits and even some work placements.
Yesterday evening Sean had the chance to deliver a skills session at South Morningside Explorer Scout Unit ⚜️
We had 36 young people in the session completing 3 of our activity based challenges. The Scouts were great and very engaged throughout the full session and came through the same challenges that our pupils in schools go through.

Breakfast in Hawick...
The effectiveskills programme for 2025/26 will be in all 9 Scottish Borders Council secondary schools, and we can't wait to get started!
On Friday, we went to visit Hawick High School for their Business Partnership Networking Breakfast. It was inspiring to hear of the work being done to support young people to create meaningful opportunities for them to develop their skills and knowledge for the World of Work. We can't wait to get involved!
The community take great pride in the school, and the school takes great pride in the community. The support from the local businesses and organisations has created meaningful, purposeful relationships to benefit the young people.
Our Director of Schools, @bruceaitchis , enjoyed being back at the school meeting the Headteacher, Lisa Scott, his former colleague! Bruce spoke to the attendees about the programme so far, the developments over the last year and the exciting future. We are now excited to work with alongside them to deliver the programme.
