Saturday January 3rd / Concert for Peace @ Sant Agata la Vetere / Catania, Sicily
@naomi.greene@michaelliot and @efeygelson perform a concert honoring the collaboration and confluence between the three Abrahamic faiths.
Featuring songs like Aya Zehn, arranged by @maestrodavidamram an Arabic song that made its ways throughout the Ottoman Empire, from Egypt to Greece, where in the Thessaloniki Jewish community, Avram Pengas learned this song and passed it to David.
We are not strangers, we are not enemies, we are brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, friends and neighbors. And we’ve been living in peace and collaboration for thousands of years, not this very modern and very temporary conflict.

Clementi was a Catanese composer who in 1968 met Jan Rzewski @jetskyjan 🎷dad Frederic at a concert in Palermo, both were young composers then, heavily influenced by the Darmstadt School and Stockhausen. The devotion to subtle dissidence, politically progressive thinking and a fervent taste for aesthetic challenges abounds, yet heart and freedom flourish in the music of these composers who respected each other immensely.

Improvisation always leads me to new places, following a path undetermined creates a new angle, vantage, perspective, and so even though I went a familiar path in this one, the end completely stunned me. I felt possessed to strike that last note. Dig it to the end, lemme know what you think.
