In postwar America, wall-to-wall carpeting dominated the home. Then Edward Fields and Raymond Loewy helped reimagine what could happen underfoot.
Originally released in 1952, five designs by Loewy introduced a playful new visual language to the floor. Organic shapes, swirling lines, and celestial motifs transformed carpets into works of modern art.
An instant hit at Lord & Taylor, the collection helped establish the decorative area rug as a staple of the American interior.
An Ode To Art Deco — Tai Ping's Paris showroom welcomed guests to a live concert on a PH Piano, recreated from a 1930s archival design by Danish architect Poul Henningsen.
Geometric forms, symmetry, and luxurious finishes — from the piano's metallic lid to the hand-tufted wool and silk of the carpets — effortlessly transport guests into the glamour of the Art Deco era.
The piano is presented alongside pieces from Edward Fields' On-The-Fringe Edition, now on display in Paris for the first time.
