One of the most exciting mail days ever! Problem Green's new EP 'Sorry I Don't Matter' dropped on Sunday 18th April and its so damn good. The lyrics are raw and honest, highlighting the nuances of everyday life...something that has become a signature of Aussie garage punk music today. We are lucky enough have just a few copies available of this beauty — a translucent purple cassette self release by the band. Dont miss out, this one's a limited release! #problemgreen #cassette #community #GaragePunk #AussieMusic

PROBLEM GREEN ‘SORRY I DON’T MATTER’ EETS-002 Building on the momentum of their earlier releases, ‘Sorry I Don’t Matter’ captures a group confidently expanding their sonic and emotional boundaries while continuing to carve out a distinctive space within Australia’s underground music landscape. Together, Problem Green deliver a sound that balances raw punk trajectory with sharp sonic intuition, resulting in music that feels distinct, unfiltered and utterly contagious. Featuring five self-released tracks and a bonus cassette exclusive interlude, ‘Sorry I Don’t Matter’ leans into a grittier, more textured sonic palette while retaining the explosive energy that defines the band’s signature sound. Menacing yet teasing vocal performances guide each track with a compelling sense of tension, drawing listeners deeper into the chaotic landscape of the record. Momentum-driven guitars propel the songs forward as the EP explores darker tonal territories and embraces a more grounded, grungier mix. Mixed and mastered by @boston.brinkman , this EP never loses the unmistakable Problem Green charm, complete with infectious hooks, emotional honesty and an undercurrent of defiant spirit. Review by @chloe__fletcher 20 PURPLE cassettes exclusively stocked at: SYD - @repressedrecords @19th_nervous_breakdown @crosstalkrecords BRIS - via @grogrecords MELB (coming soon) - via @globaldisruptrecords CLEAR cassettes available on release day 19/4 via @problem_green bandcamp and at live gigs! Hand Helds “HELLO, MR. OPERATOR” is a playfully disturbing EP, in true New York No Wave fashion it pushes and pulls between texture and tone, channelling the ample anxious energy of an exploding dissonant reality. Side A plants us firmly in a bygone era with ‘Guide’, a humorous construction of voiceover and switchboard operator to quietly slip us under the door and greet the menacing controller behind the noisy synth punk tracks ‘Trickle Down’ and ‘IBM Shareholder’ where the early tech feudalist brazenly spells out his Machiavellian plan, “people affected… king on a tirade… we won’t stop” lightly punctuated by old timey hauntings “I lovvee New Yorrrk!.” Side B gives over to the condition of the user, down tempo melodic eggy track ‘Feels Different’ pleasantly cracks open the disconnected human and feeds into the desperation of ‘Operator’, which gallops forward rhythmically over a layering of sung-out switchboard operators. ‘P.I’ ties together a synth cover of Willy Wonka’s ‘Pure Imagination’ with cut up conversations between user and operator in a dreamlike and surreal manner. The earworm ‘Fix Me’ quickly hammers in the coffin nails with a catchy synth line and stimmy lyrics, satirising misogynistic corporate practice “someday we will all be rich, someday I won’t listen to you b*tch! I’ll turn up the volume and hear her shut up” It may be a purely personal take, but “HELLO, MR. OPERATOR” dives deep into the gendered hierarchy of telecommunication, switchboard operation was a woman’s role, this is because companies observed that women were generally more courteous to callers, and their labour was cheap in comparison to men’s (specifically, one half to one quarter of a man’s salary). The exploitation and parasocial objectification of the operator is expressed keenly through the deranged and manipulative male narrators, not even in the EP title is she credited… “HELLO, MR. OPERATOR” is a real thinker of a release. Favourite tracks: ‘Feels Different’ and ‘P.I’ AUS Release stocked in Brisbane @grogrecords and Sydney @repressedrecords . Don’t snooze, it’s a very small run!

Dial Up Modem ‘LIVE AT THE DUKE OF ENMORE’ EETS-001 I listened to this EP a lot of times, by choice, I really wasn’t required to but every time I dubbed a new tape, I felt the need to crank the whole 13 and a half mins. The songs offer hook after hook after hook, understated punchy DIY punk. Dial Up Modem only need a minute or two to fully flex out a song, rhythmically edging the listener with addictive lines and melodies which are built up as quicky as they are torn down, cuing the audience sound effect of cheering or sometimes booing at the band who seem to be, as the EP title suggests, playing “Live at the Duke of Enmore”. For fans of the Urinals, Dial Up Modem achieves catchy minimalist song writing on par with the genre defining punk acts of the 1970s/80s. Dubbed on second hand World Classics, there are a few easter eggs remaining of the cassettes past life, Side B also contains a collection of “99 Most Requested Sound Effects” which have been uniquely selected for each tape. Staying true to form, Dial Up Modem’s “LIVE AT THE DUKE OF ENMORE” is best enjoyed sonically and spiritually on this strange and eclectic cassette, devoting itself to the longstanding culture which surrounds this explosively influential punk rock and roll sound. Favourite tracks (genuinely hard to choose): Closet Creep, Flith, Leatherboys. Currently stocked in SYD and MELB for $15, contact EETS for collection details.
