Field Notes ~ Vol. 2
The NZ Adventure Bender 🇳🇿
72 hours on the ground in NZ with @edwoolcott . The goal, to cram as much adventure as possible, while putting some @hellyhansenanz gear through its paces in 3 days.
A sprinkle of mountaineering. Snow camping. 90km winds. Zero sleep. Rock climbs, cold mornings, coffees on cliff faces and an abandoned push on Mt Sealy.
An ambitious quest, with lots of lessons learnt but boy we had a good time.
Hope you guys enjoy a few of these moments. Most of which usually don’t end up anywhere other than my Hardrive, so it’s nice to give them a home. Not sure if Ed’s signing up for another one anytime soon haha. Thanks for the laughs brother.
Thanks for watching, G xx
A few days back, Ongchhu and I summited one of the Himalayas’ 6000m peaks.
50% less oxygen than sea level
A -22 degree chill
12am wake up into a 14 hour slog
One of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I’ve had.
Thank you @pemba_ongchhu_sherpa for teaching me how to move safely through such a wild mountain range.
NZ part 2
1300m elevation gain with heavy packs in an attempt to summit Mount Sealy, the weather had a different plan and we got smoked with a chaotic night and an 8 hour hike back to the valley. Good times @guywilliment
NZ part 1
3 am head torch start into one of the most mind blowing sunrises @guywilliment and I have ever seen, running on no sleep, instant coffee and dried mango, this is livin’
