Pro tip, if you have multiple friends moving somewhere around the same time. Introduce them all to each other so you don't need to make a gajillion separate plans when you visit. Maybe I'll start processing photos from this trip and eventually share those too.

These two managed to make me pull out the 2013 oxford, chino, and desert boot wedding photog uniform out of retirement. Thank you for trusting me to just casually document with no fancy production. Weddings got to be too boring and tiresome to shoot, but I had a good time with y'all! Fuji XT-5 and 33mm f1.4 only all day.
When the bang bang (with potential for more bangs) is built into the mercado. @holboxlosangeles , one of the best value meals in LA, supplemented with @komalmolino , and potential for Chichen Itza or more. Lines are longer now with the star, but service is quick and food still great (this visit was March 2025). Apparently I gotta go back to Komal for the suadero tacos 📝
BBRC just runs now, but we used to get breakfast burritos. Despite the cheesy name, this is a contender for top tier breakfast burritos in OC. Very, very good tortilla (the element most places don't put any consideration into for some reason), crispy tots, and bacon that isn't your typical bacon. Highly recommended.
One of the best meals, if not dining experiences, in Los Angeles. Only the best for family Christmas dinner (we're almost done with the 2024 backlog!). I will continue to champion @mini_kabob as one of the 🐐s of the LA food scene. Even though I will probably never try their Caesar wrap 😂 Thanks for squeezing us into a hectic night, Chef!
Matty's Patty's grand opening Dec 2024. The 7oz thiccboi Matty was definitely the move. The Patty (smash) was fine (but look at the light hitting it). Didn't love the chili, not my preferred flavor profile (was too sweet if I remember correctly). Onion rings were killer. Haven't been back since, but I wouldn't mind stopping by if I was in the area. I should've bothered Matty for a photo, but he was busy shmoozin' everyone 😅
Mapo Ragu, adapted by Sam Sifton. Fuck David Chang, but this recipe goes very hard. Hit the leftover sauce (or honestly make this sauce without the 떡) with rice. Sichuan peppercorns are not optional.
