On April 7, 2026, students from the Edwards School of Business and the USask Department of Computer Science came together for the Student Game Jam Showcase, the capstone event of an interdisciplinary collaboration between two courses: COMM 498 Strategic Video Game Marketing, taught by Ben Dunning, and CMPT 406 Game Design Workshop, coordinated by Jason Bowey. Since late January, students worked in studio‑lab teams to collaboratively develop and promote four original, student‑built video games. The public showcase featured booth‑style demonstrations where attendees could play the games, explore marketing materials, and engage directly with the student developers and marketers. The event highlighted the strength of experiential, cross‑disciplinary learning and the value of coordinated course design across academic units.

Congratulations to Emma Clark (B.Comm. 2017) on her startup – LIV Mental Wellness.
Emma built her solo private practice, LIV Mental Wellness to provide compassionate, research-backed therapy, helping women move from coping to living a steady and sustainable manner.
"LIV Mental Wellness is a virtual therapy practice that provides evidence-based psychotherapy to clients across several Canadian provinces. In my role, I oversee the overall strategy and growth of the business, including clinician recruitment, marketing, partnerships, and operations. I continue to work directly with clients as a therapist, which allows me to stay closely connected to the work we do day to day."
Emma gained experience in the working elements of a business before going on to complete her masters. "My time at Edwards gave me a strong foundational knowledge in business and entrepreneurship. After graduating, I spent several years at Shopify working across sales, marketing, and operations, which gave me firsthand experience inside a high-growth company and helped me develop a practical understanding of how to build systems, make data-driven decisions, and scale a business. Later, completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology gave me the clinical training needed to practice as a therapist. The combination of business training and clinical training ultimately allowed me to build a practice that focuses both on providing excellent care and creating a sustainable, well-run organization."
Emma's work is based in community enrichment, a nod to her memories from Edwards. "The best part is being able to do work that feels deeply meaningful while also building something of my own. I love the combination of entrepreneurship and helping people. As therapists, we have the privilege of walking alongside people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and it's incredibly rewarding to see clients grow, heal, and build lives that feel more aligned with who they are. I met so many amazing friends at Edwards - many of whom are still friends to this day."
We wish you the best of luck in this new chapter, Emma! Join us in celebrating her below!
