BORDEAUX 2025 EN PRIMEURS - A NEW GENERATION OF WINES ‘En Primeurs’ week has been one of the biggest highlights of the tasting calendar for me since I tasted the Bordeaux 2013 vintage en primeurs. And despite my week being cut short, with the sun in full shine and hopeful smiles beaming off people’s faces, this primeurs campaign will be particularly memorable. With the 2025, Bordeaux has successfully created a new generation of wines across the whole region. Whereas for the 2024 vintage, only around half managed to align choices in the vineyard (predominantly harvest picking dates) with those in the winery (generally gentler extraction), it appears that conditions seemed to favour the whole region for the 2025, and those who have been making true progress in the winery over a number of years being able to harness these conditions to create truly stand-out wines. Across the world winemakers claim they make ‘fresh’ wines right now, without really being able to describe what that means for their wine. However for Bordeaux generally, this meant ‘fresh’ in the sense that the wines exhibited less perceivable tannin without losing body and structure, or feeling fragile (the case with many 2024s). Therefore wines that have a smoother, more seductive texture and also already offering lighter, more delicate, charming aromas that would have been masked by the darker, heavier and more bitter tannic aromas of the past. Substance gives way to Style (in a good way), where the top wines each have a more recognisable identity than ever before. All of the above resulting in wines that can be appreciated much earlier, yet with the acidity that enables them to still be aged as before. Those that missed the mark for me were those whose wines gave an acidity that you could taste (sour, and even in cases a slight bergamote bitterness) rather than feel. Yet, as many before me have already commented, the future of Bordeaux and its ‘en primeurs’ is no longer dictated by the quality of its wines but instead about price-quality ratio, which remains to be seen. Stay tuned! #bordeaux #bordeauxprimeurs #primeurs2025 #futures #winetasting

HYROX PARIS GRAND PALAIS 2026 1:08. Not quite the result I was aiming for, but still a strong time for my first ever #hyrox and an absolutely incredible experience. At the end of the race, I was left feeling that there’s no way I’d do a Hyrox ever again. But already by the next morning I was wanting to get back in there and prove I could do better. It seems this is only the beginning, and with so much to take away from this first experience hopefully things will truly only get better and better. Thanks to all the support from my parents, family and friends, the coaches and entire community at @battlingclubbordeaux and to my lovely Camille. 1. RUNS (av. pace 4:09) my biggest achievement. Despite the running being my main concern having been set back with multiple running-related injuries up until only recently, I was able to maintain my target pace throughout. How much faster I can get with consistent training moving forwards remains to be seen. 2. SKI ERG (4:11) went as planned 3. SLED PUSH (2:17) not bad, but with one extra pause than planned 4. SLED PULL (3:06) as planned despite constantly tripping over the ropes 5. BURPEES (3:54) slower than I was hoping but in order to avoid blowing up mid-race. Entirely forgot to use the step-up technique which was foolish (I blame the unholy start time) 6. ROW (4:15) went as planned 7. FARMERS CARRY (1:31) went as planned although felt difficult with the constant snaking of the course 8. LUNGES (3:50) good rhythm but much slower than planned, only realised towards the end that I was taking this far too comfortably, and unfortunately where I lost sight of my target finish time 9. WALL BALLS (5:50) main disappointment. Began with a long series of no reps before throwing the ball over the target and into the netting (also a no rep!). Thrown off completely, I also realised I was off my target time and pretty much gave up trying. 10. ROXZONE (6:24) huge area for improvement. Although a chunk of time was lost running to the wrong gate at one stage (again I blame the tiredness), I now realise just how significant it is to hold running pace even through the Roxzone. @hyrox.france #hyroxparis2026

Back from another busy week and a fantastic @watchesandwonders in Geneva, one of my favourite events of the year not only for watchmaking – but for the luxury industry as a whole. Highlights include: - @audemarspiguet entering the show in style, offering an amazing journey to discover the brand, its history and its collection, and in particular the pop-up book celebrating the brand’s 150th anniversary. - @hermes using their window displays to not display any products whatsoever, but instead to play with light and shadows in typical Hermès style. - @vancleefarpels beautifully romantic ‘Pont des Amoureux’ pieces, where lovers approach one another firstly to give the time, before finally meeting in the middle for a kiss. - Interviewing members of @czapekgeneve ’s ever-growing family of rare people for their next campaign with @tystudio – mixing journalism with advertising. - @cartier ’s entire novelty collection, each one inspired by classical pieces and displayed side by side in a brilliantly elegant show of tradition vs. modernity. - @moserwatches ’s ‘pumped up’ stand, with the Pump watches enabling you to re-wind the watch by pumping a rubber pusher on the side. A continuation of a rising brand from year to year where you have absolutely no idea of what’s coming next. - Discovering @vacheronconstantin ’s incredible ‘La Quête du Temps,’ reminding us that haute-horlogerie extends much further than what can be worn on the wrist. - The countless spontaneous discussions with other passionate people, reminding us that none of this wonder would exist if it wasn’t for people. #watchesandwonders #watchmaking #luxurywatches #hautehorlogerie #geneve

All good things come to an end :( About to leave after a fantastic week of skiing with the family in Meribel and the surrounding 3 vallĂŠes. We were lucky to have half the week under glorious sunshine, some huge dumps of snow and some perfectly chilled beers to make for near-perfect conditions, whilst the dates seemed to line up between holidays which meant the slopes were empty. #skiing #pintasse #meribel #familytime #holidays

A collection of different coloured enamels to be ground and painted by hand onto watch faces, an example of ancient rare craft still preserved today by leaders in haute-horlogerie, such as @czapekgeneve #rarecraft #hautehorlogerie #watchmaking #savoirfaire
