This lecture was a total cosmic trip! 🚀✨ It was a mind-bending look at the construction sites of our universe, answering those big questions we all have when looking up at the night sky 🔭🪐✨
We traveled to the edge of the universe with TIFR researcher Sujay Jadhav (@sujoyness ) to witness the chaotic, dusty birth of stars and planets. Using mind-blowing data and images from the James Webb Space Telescope, we discussed the biosignatures that make life possible and peeked inside the galaxy’s most exclusive stellar nurseries 🔭🪐
Here is a quick look at what went down:
- The Deep Dive: Sujay decoded how gravity turns stardust into suns and how astronomers hunt for planets around distant stars. 🌕🧬
- The JWST Intel: We got an insider’s view of how infrared tech “sees” through space-dust to find the building blocks of life. 🛰️🔥
- The Hot Seat: A massive 30-minute Q&A where no question was too big (or too nerdy!) for our speaker. 🎤🧠
- The Mixer: We rounded off the night by swapping cosmic theories and making new friends over cold brews. 🍻🤝
What a night for the Mumbai nerd community! If you weren’t there, you definitely missed out on the best science-and-spirits vibe in the city🍹🌌
🍻🌕 If you missed this one, keep an eye out for the next chance to join us for big ideas and great company!
On Sunday, April 19th 2026 we will get a chance to listen to Dr. Amber Annett (a marine biogeochemist) talk about how hidden tsunamis breathe life into the southern ocean. We will also get a chance to listen to Dr. Mehul Vora (a molecular biologist) talk about the foundational mechanics of molecular biology.
Ticket 🎟️ link for both lectures in bio. Book now. Spots going fast 💨

Why does the picture of the 50 year older NASA's mission of Apollo 17 look better than the Artemis 2? Is it an effect of air pollution? Well, no!
It is because of fundamentally different lighting, shooting conditions, and camera technologies rather than inferior equipment or even air pollution. While Apollo 17 photographed a fully sunlit Earth, Artemis II captured a "sliver" Earth (night side) using a high-ISO digital camera, resulting in higher image noise and lower contrast.

We’re kicking off April with a bang!
Since we started, astrophysics has been the hot topic in demand. So we’re back with yet another lecture on space research!
This time, we will explore how stars and planets are born, how astronomers detect planets around distant stars, and how these discoveries are helping us investigate some of the oldest mysteries in science.
Join us!

🔭 🪐 🌕 In this lecture we will explore how stars and planets are formed and studied with @sujoyness and @edurved . Life on Earth exists because of a unique combination of ingredients such as water, carbon, oxygen, sunlight, and the right environmental conditions, but studying only the Sun and Earth cannot fully answer these questions. To explore them, we must look beyond our Solar System and understand how stars and planets form.
🗣ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Sujay Jadhav is a research scholar at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Mumbai, observing young stars using the extremely powerful James Webb Space Telescope. With an academic foundation built at IIT Guwahati and the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru, his current work involves looking for water signatures around young stars taking birth and understanding the role of water in the star formation processes. He is also passionate about Science and Astronomy outreach and leads initiatives through “edurVed” to inspire curiosity and scientific thinking among students and public in general.

More than five decades later after the Apollo, humanity is gearing up for its next moon mission - the Artemis!
Are you ready to witness history?

A small town looked up - it didn't just see the stars, it found directions! 💫
Travelling almost 250 kilometres from Mumbai, we celebrated this National Science Day in a small town of Maharashtra called Sangamner where it saw a footfall of a wide range of audience. This was a very new experience for the people there as such an event was being organized probably for the very first time.
They looked at various objects like the Moon, Jupiter and its moons, the Pleiades star cluster, the Orion Nebula and a lot of other things with the help of telescopes, binoculars and a smart telescope. The session also consisted of talks on Basic Astronomy and a very special starlore session.
We received very positive feedback from the audience opening up to possibilities of more events there. We are grateful to everyone who made this event possible and a great success.. ✨

Mumbai skies have cleared up and consequently, a wealth of cosmic objects were visible. Sharing pictures of some objects captured during the last night and this evening.
Captured using a simple camera phone with 4-8 seconds long exposure for objects in the night..
