As part of #AllergyAwarenessWeek, weāre highlighting important information for parents about how we keep school mealtimes safe with fail safe meals and parent co-operation...
Providing a confirmed diagnosis and specific details about your childās allergy or intolerance allows us to safely plan appropriate meals by giving our kitchen staff time to figure out what recipes are affected and order in specific foods.
Where information is unclear or still being assessed, we provide a temporary failāsafe meal ā not to limit choice, but to prioritise the childās safety.
Our fail-safe meal is designed to be simple, with fewer ingredients and whole-food sources that can be easily prepped separately.
We don't want to put a child at risk no matter what. Which is why we require clear documentation to stop any guess work. If needs change over time, the school needs updated allergy information.
We will ALWAYS continue to support children confidently and safely at lunchtime.š
During #AllergyAwarenessWeek, itās a good time to reflect on the systems that support pupil safety every day.
Combining Our Allergy Policy & The School Management Plan at the Serveryš¤
Dining halls and food serveries are busy places and and everyone has a shared responsibility for keeping pupils safe every day. Our robust, councilāapproved policy, alongside the schoolās management plan, clearly sets out the process for the safe identification of pupils at the point of meal service. This ensures a shared understanding and consistent practice, which is vital to the safe and effective delivery of school meals.
