Every year during the month of Shaban, thousands gather from all over Hadramaut, Yemen and beyond to visit the grave of the Prophet Hud (peace be upon him).
This is a tradition among the Ba’Alawi imams of Hadramaut, Yemen, passed on from generation to generation. For five days, people gather in worship at the maqam of Nabi Hud (as) in a tradition first established by al-Faqih al-Muqaddam (d.1255AH)
They grave of the Prophet Hud (as) is situated in a valley. Below the grave is a mosque, built around a great rock, where a gathering takes place, led by the teachers of Hadramaut.

The Annual Visit to Prophet Hud (alaihi salam).
Located within the Ahqaff Mountains of Hadramawt, Yemen, the Syi’ib valley serves as the site for one of the region’s most significant religious gatherings.
Each year during the month of Sya’ban, thousands of men from Yemen and across the international community travel to this remote location for a week-long spiritual retreat. The timing of the event is strategic, serving as a period of transition and preparation immediately preceding the holy month of Ramadan.
This tradition remains a cornerstone of Hadrami identity, maintaining a centuries-old link between the history of the region and contemporary Islamic practice.

كان الشيخ يلقي درسه فأبصر أحدَهم شارد الذهن
فقال له : أنت أعِد ما قلتُه؟
قال : لا أدري ! قال :ولماذا تحضر؟ إذاً قال : لأن النبي ﷺ قال : هم القوم لا يشقى بهم جليسهم. فبكى الشيخ وقال : أردنا أن نعلمَه فتعلمنا منه.
A shaykh was delivering his lesson when he noticed one of the attendees was absent-minded.
So he said to him:
“Can you repeat what I just said?”
He replied, “I don’t know.”
The shaykh said, “Then why do you attend?”
He replied, “Because the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘They are a people such that whoever sits with them will not be wretched.’
The shaykh then wept and said:
“We wanted to teach him, but instead we learned from him.”
Suatu ketika seorang syekh sedang menyampaikan pelajarannya, lalu ia melihat salah seorang hadirin tampak melamun.
Maka syekh berkata kepadanya:
“Apakah kamu bisa mengulangi apa yang tadi aku katakan?”
Ia menjawab: “Aku tidak tahu.”
Syekh berkata: “Kalau begitu, mengapa kamu hadir?”
Ia menjawab: “Karena Nabi ﷺ bersabda: ‘Mereka adalah suatu kaum yang siapa pun yang duduk bersama mereka tidak akan celaka.’”
Maka sang syekh pun menangis dan berkata:
“Kami ingin mengajarinya, ternyata kamilah yang belajar darinya.”

Recently I came across the creed transition reel and had to give it a try. Dug up unused footage from the recent Japan trip which was just collecting dust on my hard drive and imported in to Davinci Resolve.
The shape cut out transition is quite easy to master, but I'm still struggling with color grading. This mini project took me longer than I expected as I wanted to step up my sound design game.
