It’s been over 10 years since I sat for Boy with Apple, Wes Anderson’s fictional Renaissance masterpiece for The Grand Budapest Hotel. Painted by Michael Taylor and treasured by Wes himself, the portrait is finally stepping out into the world.
I just received the news that for the first time ever, Boy with Apple will be on public display as part of a major Wes Anderson retrospective, opening at La Cinémathèque Française in Paris before moving to @designmuseum London in November 2025—then on to a world tour in 2026.
Over the years, this painting has taken on a life of its own—on prints (not official, sorry!), phone cases, even tattoos. Now, you can see the original in person. A surreal full-circle moment.
