This one hits different.
Leaving the first family i ever knew- my mother and her husband, to get back to my family I've helped build- my wife and the boys.
My mother had three surgeries in one go.
Her husband is still recovering from his surgeries a couple months ago.
Watching them hit this new phase of being elderly is messing with my heart and mind.
But we gonna make it, together.
There's the truth in the cliche.
UNITED.
Everyone stepped up, my wife, the 19 year old, the 6 year old, the great surgeons, doctors and staff, everyone.
I'm the only child of an only child, so mom and I have been thru plenty of phases and understand what it means to handle things yourself.
But I could not have made it without my close friends and amazing new family.
I'm scared to leave them both without full time care but we will get things handled.
Love on your people.
Only worry about what really matters.
Focus on your version of family.
If we are friends and I'm not giving you what you need, let me know. I'll do my best. I expect the same.
Now, let's love things until they have no choice but to love us back.
As always,
I fly. You fly. We, fly.
Hey there, how are you?
Alot going on in the world right now.
How are you keeping your sanity?
How are you maintaining your joy?
I've written stories about my mother and her husband and conversations we've had over the years. They've brought people joy and laughter. That makes me feel good.
Today I don't fly to tour, to share poems, to give art to the World.
Today I fly to sit with my mother while she goes to surgery.
Today I fly to serve as caregiver to her blind husband while she's in the hospital.
Basically, today I fly as a son to two wonderful people who've done so much for me.
This is more important than any show I've done.
Today I keep my sanity knowing that I give and receive love.
Today I maintain joy reflecting on the moments we've shared.
I hope you realize nothing in your world is too big for you to handle.
As always,
I fly. You fly. We, fly.

Listen.
That's it. How many times in a day do you feel as if no one has listened to you?
Everyone wants to be heard but so rarely do we consider if we exercise effective listening.
Today's challenge- every interaction you have today, focus on how well you listen to the other person. Take in not only what they say but how they say it. What did you learn? Notice how the more attentive you are to others, they in turn will be drawn in to focus on you. It's a mirror process.
In all honesty, this moment is due to a airline gate agent NOT listening to what i asked lol. Rather than get upset with them, I wondered what's going on in their life where they are unable to listen anymore.
Just a thought.
Until that day,
I fly. You fly. We, fly.
"The Voice of Joy Award is presented to Ed Mabrey in recognition of five years of leadership, presence, and powerful facilitation. Your voice has guided the flow of this experience, uplifted the community, and created a sense of connection that resonates beyond the stage. Because of you, every moment has a rhythm, and every voice has space."
Thank y'all so much for this.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
I'm with y'all till the wheels fall off.
I've had some trips but haven't done one is these in a moment.
Flying/ traveling was something I basically was taking for granted.
Now I am remembering how much of a privilege it is to do this, to fly.
For me it always reminds me how small I am and how small most problems are. It's a moment to readjust and remember what matters.
On a day where many take time to "fool" people, I am reminded that what we choose to joke about often reveals hidden dreams, pressures or desires.
Today I choose to accept me more and love me more and do my best to do that for others as well.
I just want to keep growing and going.
Until that day,
I fly. You fly. We, fly.
