🥂 Seafood feast worth the jio! Fresh catch from Singapore’s very own Ah Huat Kelong, served up at Smolder — a farm-to-table seafood restaurant just 5 mins from Havelock MRT with a cocktail bar to match. ✨ Highlights to order: • Zucchini parmesan fritters ($10) – crispy and addictive • Smoky octopus potato salad ($16) • Portuguese seafood stew ($28) – pork belly + garlic toast = chef’s kiss • Whole barbecued grouper ($72/700g) – cleanly devoured with their fiery western-style sambal • Sweet surprises: olive oil cake with salty honey cream, and spiced apple wanton 💡 Destination dining that’s tasty, fun, and surprisingly reasonable. We’re already planning our next visit. Don’t say bojio. #sgfood #sgfoodie #reels #wheretoeat #seafood #comfortfood #fish #farmtotable #food #foodie

Never thought this day would come but it’s finally here. Closing my chapter after 8 years at Bar Stories. This is your last chance to throw down the gauntlet with me for your ridiculous request for a cocktail. Come at me bro, I’ve had a Satanist ask for a drink to commemorate their eternal bond to The Devil and a chick who wanted to taste her RPG character. To all the people who I’ve crossed paths with and have had the pleasure of hosting/working with, thank you for your support and for sharing moments with me.

Past week/month/year has been hectic. It was also @barmandave aka John Wick aka Encik aka fishermandave’s BIG 4️⃣0️⃣!!!! Anyone who can’t be bothered to read this shit, just scroll through the photos to peek into my tenure with Dave/bar stories over the past 7 years. Thank you for the guidance and mentorship so far. I remember having the supper treat before enlistment at Bistro du Le Pin, chatting about my future, albeit briefly, and plans post-NS. 2 years after being a slave to the country, I was enslaved under you (jk). Never would I have imagined that night, that I would end up working in hospitality. I don’t think many people decide on this career path as their first choice. But I’m glad I did and thankful that you have been there every step/misstep of the journey. Learned many impactful things from you (and your mistakes). “Slow is smooth, smooth is fast”, countless “your mom” exchanges and jabs with each other that could possibly cross a line someday. Thanks for being a big part of my adulthood and maturity. Sometimes people ask if we’re brothers, given that we share the same last name. I’d joke and say “Nah, he would have to be more handsome to share the same genes as me.” But I wouldn’t be ashamed to call you my big brother. I think I’ve spent more hours with you than my actual kin 🤔 maybe time to cut down my hours? Prepping for World Class together and sharing your experience was really meaningful. We were equally lost for words that day and pretty unprepared :/ But you didn’t show any sign of reluctance/hesitation to help. Your support meant a lot that period and I think it got me through to the finals. You have blessed me with a unique opportunity to mature and I sincerely hope I get to pay it forward to the next bumbling 16 y/o NFG idiot who would book out on weekends and still turn up for shifts, fill up your personal claim reports, sleepover on your couch when I forgot my keys, and take photos that make you half decent looking. Enjoy your day of fishing, let me worry about work. See you on Tuesday and DONT BE LATE PLEASE. If anyone has gotten this far, the next time you see Dave, please remind him he’s not getting any younger.
