Thought I was long finished with this project, five (!) years since the publication of my palette book, until last week. I was working on an illustration assignment and looked up Wolfgang Tillmans’ photographs of flowers as drawing references. His colors are astounding and so distinctly his: vibrant, full, expressive, tinged with a little melancholic Berlin light. I thought, “Someone should put together a show of just his flowers.” Then I realized I had to freak it with this one.
