✨Guest Instructor Spotlight ✨ Closing out our final LABMC Master Class is our very own @laurenburkecreates ! Ms.Lauren led a Horton Technique class. The dancers were excited to step outside of their comfort zones and try something new! What a great way to close out the guest instructor portion of the series! In addition to receiving one-on-one instruction from Lauren Anderson, LABMC scholarship recipients get the exclusive opportunity to get one-on-one instruction from guest instructors throughout the season. Ms.Lauren is a Houston-based performer, choreographer, and educator known for her creative collaborations and dynamic presence on stage. She has co-produced and choreographed works including UnCovering The Legacy: Black History Celebration of Dance, Visceral: An Examination of Beauty Standards, and Bodyguard The Musical. Lauren has trained in styles such as ballet, modern, Horton technique, and dance theatre. She has studied under many distinguished instructors including, Harrison Guy, Milton Myers, and Max Stone. Lauren is a company dancer and soloist with Urban Souls Dance Company (@urbansoulsdance ). Lauren has performed many works including but not limited to Milan Fashion Week (Moncler x Pharrell Williams) with Tobe Nwigwe and the Black Angels, as well as Plumshuga: The Rise of Lauren Anderson. Born and raised in Houston, TX , Micah Bullard received training at the Dance Center of Baytown and taught at Fort Bend Academy of Arts and Dance under our very own, Charity Carter. He later went on to earn a BFA in Ballet Performance from University of Oklahoma. Micah is currently in his fifth season with Dance Theatre of Harlem , where he has performed works by many artists such as George Balanchine, Geoffrey Holder, and William Forsythe. Micah’s film credits include Full Out 2: You Got This! and Amazon Prime TV series Etoile. Ms. Carly brought incredible insight and guidance to the dancers! From Flower Mound , TX, Ms. Carly has trained with many companies such as The Ailey School and Houston Ballet. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Fordham University and has entered her third year as a member of Dance Theatre of Harlem. She has an outstanding repertoire including works by George Balanchine, Alvin Ailey, Geoffrey Holder. She has performed soloist roles in major classical ballets including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and La Bayadère. Now the director of her own Preschool Dance Program in Northeast Houston and certified in Progressive Ballet Technique (PBT), she blends strong technique with fun to help young dancers reach their fullest potential. #labmc #ballet #masterclass #encouragement #balletclass
