This week has been so surreal 🥹🙌🏾 I remember hearing those words “You’re going to Hollywood” for the first time while watching the first season of
@americanidol on a little box TV set on a counter in the dining room.
I remember seeing
@ryanseacrest congratulating these amazing singers and watching them become world renowned artists.
I remember learning how to write and immediately writing down the things I wanted to achieve in my life and career. I remember seeing so much of that come to pass despite so many of life’s challenges and obstacles… and losing loved ones on the way.
I remember moving to Los Angeles, experiencing trials and triumphs… I remember flying to Portland to see my mom… and I remember her last words to me, “You get out there and sing for those people.” 🕊️
I remember fighting through heartache to be an inspiration and checking off #visionboard goals left and right in her name… and I remember receiving a phone call asking if I’d like to be a part of the 22nd season of one of the most watched music television shows in history 🤯
I remember walking into a room full of cameras to see the faces of
@lionelrichie ,
@lukebryan , and
@katyperry . I remember being asked what I want from this experience and saying, “I want to sell out stadiums around the world and bring my music and message to the people that need it.”
I remember sitting down at that piano and, against everything that I’d been told, singing an ORIGINAL song, my song “Free”. 📜
I remember looking up to see a standing ovation from all 3 judges as Lionel Richie looked me in the eye and said, “what you said is going to happen, all you needed was for the world to see you and if there’s anything we have to do with it, we’re gonna make sure you reach that dream of yours.”
Then, for the first time in years, I heard those words once again:
“You’re going to Hollywood.” 🎫✨🥹
Momma, your baby boy did it ❤️✨ Whatever happens from here, the only direction I see is up 🔥🙏🏾 See you at #HollywoodWeek 😉
