Doodle Chat is taking a well earned break.
We will post any updates here.
Left Bank will still be open as usual, and they have space, art materials, and loads of fun workshops for everyone to get involved with. @leftbankleeds
A lot of the Doodle Chat regulars will be in on a Wednesday doodling and chatting. It's so wonderful to see the community that has built up around Doodle Chat continuing to meet up and make art. We couldn't ask for a better legacy.

We've added some extra Doodle Chat dates to Apocalypse Remix. We've had so many great conversations, made new connections in the community, explored well-being and creativity with lots of people, and added many excellent Mighty Horses to the wall, we just had to add some more sessions.
Join artist Edek Thompson for a relaxed, drop-in chat and doodle at Redcar Palace TS10 3AE from 10-2 on 15th, 23rd & 28th May, 5th, 13th & 14th June.
Sessions are free. All materials provided, tea and coffee too, no art experience necessary.
Everyone can take their own Doodle Pack away with them too, so they can get creative anytime anywhere.
Can't wait to see you all there!

Redcar Palace presents Apocalypse Remix. A new community exhibition co-created by artist Edek Thompson & the communities of Redcar & Cleveland. Working with local artists and community groups Apocalypse Remix is a showcase of local talent, a visual manifesto for the future, and a demonstration of the positive impact of creativity on wellbeing.
Edek is a community artist, who paints the apocalypse one dog, pigeon or crow at a time. Creating fun and disturbing images of a future ravaged by climate change, he imagines a world full of mutations and strange adaptations, where duck feet will aid survival in a new lifetime underwater. His work is a future mythology, a way to remember and document the things around us for when they are no longer there
Sustainability and accessibility are key factors in Edek’s work and inform his material choices. He uses found and donated materials, household emulsions rescued from landfill, boards from building sites and vinyl from sign shop bins, along with the stuff people usually have lying around at home like pens, pencils and crayons. Using these materials and working from reference photos that he has taken himself, Edek hopes his creations can help to spread a little joy and optimism at the end of the world.
Edek’s work started as a way of working through his own anxieties around climate change, but soon developed into a deeper exploration of his own mental health and wellbeing, an acknowledgement of isolation due to chronic pain, a meditation on grief and loss, and a question of how we can engage with, build, and maintain supportive, nurturing communities.
Produced by artist Edek Thompson & the communities of Redcar & Cleveland.

Hey everyone - just a little note for our Wednesday Doodle Chatters! 💛
Even though Ed and the team are taking a well-earned break and Doodle Chat isn’t running for now, you’re still so welcome at Left Bank.
We’ll be open Wednesdays as usual—so whether you feel like getting creative, having a cuppa and a chat, or just spending some relaxed time in a friendly space, come by and make yourself at home. We will make sure to reserve your usual table each week so it is ready if you call by.
Our community art station will be set up with all your favourite materials, ready for you to dip in and out, doodle, experiment, or just see where your creativity takes you—no pressure, no expectations.
It’s still your space to connect, create, and be part of the community, just as it’s always been.
We’d love to see you ✨
Please join me for the opening of Apocalypse Remix at Redcar Palace on the 27th March from 5-7pm.
We will be having a Community Celebration Day to showcase the work of our community groups and guest artists on the 23rd May from 12-3pm.
The exhibition will be open from the 27th March until the 14th June (Tuesday to Saturday, but check before planning your journey).
I will be hosting a number of free drop-in Doodle Chat sessions too (see second photo for dates). All materials provided, tea and coffee too, no art experience necessary.
Can't wait to see you all there!
