Meet Eddie Hemphill! (@eddierhea ) 🤝🏾
Hemphill is a photographer, filmmaker and creative producer whose work explores how identity, memory, human impact and the environment bend and shape one another to create our lived conditions. As a photographer, his images explore the emotional architecture of everyday life, capturing intimate moments that invite inquiry into deeper truths just beneath the surface.
Additionally, Hemphill is a Black Image Center alumni who attended our 2025 artist residency, California Coast in Color! We’re thrilled to be highlighting some of the work that came out of his time in the cohort. You can view more of his project, Black in the Blue, at @projectblackintheblue

Earlier this week, I got the chance to see @chrispowemusic , @weldonscottmusic , and @jordanproffer performing as the Chris Powe Trio at @Malbon West Hollywood. Amazing musicians with a deep appreciation for music and a dope production by @daddocrutherford . A very vibey situation.

‘InContext’ feat. Ashley Younniä
I’ve recently had the honor to be in community with the endlessly talented DJ, music curator, and fellow Gemini, Ashley Younniä (@ashleyyounnia ). Over the last little bit, I’ve witnessed her not only dream, but build new spaces with @achildrenofthesound and @ahousecalledzanzibar . Both of these projects are rooted as much in the history and depth of our music as they are rooted in care. Ashley is a global builder of soundscapes and I got to photograph just a glimpse of the magic from which those soundscapes are sourced.
Ashley on her home:
“My home is where I can rest in my curiosity. Here I get to be in exploration of rest and play. Being in the duality of myself as both home body and busy body. Moving from couch to my studio set gives this Gemini brain of mine the affirmation to be in flow of my desires. It’s my meditation. My sanctuary.”
‘InContext’ documents people in what for many is their most intimate setting — their homes and neighborhoods. It is a space of reflection, intimacy, and commons. This project began during study with @strudelmedialive .

This week marks my final class for @strudelmedialive ’s Innovative Strategies for Exploring the Human Condition Masterclass with Fred Ritchin (@fredritchin ). My mind is blown.
The course explored new and alternative ways of investigating what it means to be human in 2026, while giving tools and examples to enlarge our vision as photographers, producing innovative works of our own.
I’m super proud of the work I made over the last 5 weeks. I was pushed into absolutely new directions and I’m so excited to keep exploring these new techniques. I’ve started to really understand how images can be an experience rather than a single frame. Truly grateful for everybody who made this happen — @anjahitze@strudelmedialive@sahaiwithani .
