London-based designer and fabricator
@eddieolin 's work celebrates the aesthetic value of engineering processes, and in the five years since launching his eponymous studio, his practice has become synonymous with pieces that balance heavy metal with a sense of playfulness and visual lightness.
His work brings often overlooked engineering processes and techniques into the spotlight, drawing attention to precisely machined elements typically hidden from view and using them to create furniture with precise, clean forms and angles that hint at his background in typography. Olin prefers not to overanalyse aesthetic choices, instead focusing on making what he finds interesting.
Although his pieces are made in Manchester at a private engineering workshop, where keeping heavy industrial equipment is more financially realistic, his studio is based in London. With no grand masterplan or tick list of goals, Olin is content to let his practice grow organically, observing how the scale of projects continues to increase, from vases to hospitality and retail interiors.
