📸 @aimeemaryshirley 🙏♥️💥 Hi, ich bin Edda Mann, im ehemaligen Ostberlin geboren und Mutter zweier toller Kinder. Anfang der 2000er hab ich für ein paar Semester Kunst/ freie Malerei an der UDK in Berlin und an der Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main studiert. Dann bin ich Mutter geworden und hatte riesige Angst vor Armut und habe mit dem Malen für 15 Jahre komplett aufgehört. In der Zeit hab ich eine Ausbildung zur Schneiderin gemacht, als Assistentin für Kostümbild und als Kostümbildnerin gearbeitet. Außerdem habe ich den @konkberlin von 2012 bis 2018 geführt. Der KONK war ein Store für Berliner Mode und Schmuck und in der Zeit habe ich sooo tolle Menschen kennengelernt: wahnsinnig talentierte Designer*innen und super interessante Kundinnen! Und ich habe wirklich tolle Freundinnen gewonnen @bettiknoop @tmrnklsvi @malutkaberlin etc. ❤️‍🔥 Seit 2020 male ich endlich wieder. Ich hab ganz langsam angefangen und es hat ne Weile gedauert aber nun endlich verstehe ich mich als Künstlerin und kann das auch ganz selbstbewusst sagen, wenn mich jemand danach fragt was ich mache. Ja, ich bin Künstlerin, ich bin Malerin und so dankbar, dass ich der Angst keine Macht mehr gebe. (Was nicht heißt, dass sie nicht mehr da ist.) Wenn ich nicht male unterstütze ich gerne Frauen mit individuellem Styling oder gebe zusammen mit der Hammer-(Coachin) @isa.gruetering Styling-Workshops 🦄 Denn wenn ich was während der Zeit im KONK gelernt habe, ist es Frauen anzuziehen. Und das mache ich auf etwas andere Art mittlerweile auch regelmäßig @linierie_underwear_store ,von der wundervollen Clara. Da gibt’s die schönste Wäsche Berlins 💞 Dieses Jahr ist mein Vater verstorben, er hatte letztes Jahr einen Schlaganfall und war sehr auf meine und professionelle Hilfe angewiesen. Mit dem Tod kommt die Trauer und für mich auch noch einmal sehr präsent die Frage nach dem Sinn des Lebens, nach dem: „Wie möchte ich leben?“ Schmerz & Schrecken in Schönes zu transformieren, der Glaube ans Fantastische, ist oft das was ich mit meinen Bildern tue bzw. zeigen möchte. @edda_mann__ Edda Mann znajduje inspirację w konkretnych miejscach, które mają dla niej znaczenie emocjonalne. Fotografuje te lokalizacje, a następnie wykorzystuje je jako punkt odniesienia i wstępny szablon dla swoich obrazów. Jednak później są one w dużej mierze przekształcane w jej własne, niemal baśniowe przestrzenie. Farba olejna jest jej głównym medium — początkowo wybranym ze względu na podobieństwo do płynności akwareli, lecz obecnie cenionym za swoją głębię, „cierpliwość” i podatność na formowanie. Pozwala jej wymazywać, odbudowywać i przekształcać. Często używa pigmentów pozyskiwanych z krajobrazów, przez które podróżuje, mieszając je z tuszem, farbą akrylową w sprayu, pastelami olejnymi, a czasem nawet z haftem i cekinami, aby wpleść wspomnienia i materiały w powierzchnię obrazu. She photographs these locations and later uses them as a reference and initial template for her paintings. However, these are then largely transformed into her own, almost fairy-tale-like places. Oil paint is her primary medium—originally chosen for its similarity to the fluidity of watercolors, but now valued for its depth, its patience, and its malleability. It allows her to erase, rebuild, and reshape. She often uses pigments sourced from the landscapes she travels through, mixed with ink, acrylic spray paint, oil pastels, and sometimes even embroidery and sequins, to weave memories and materials into a surface. W języku niemieckim drzewo jest klasyfikowane jako rodzaj męski, ale ja postrzegam je jako żeńskie, w dużej mierze ze względu na głębokie przyjaźnie, jakie łączą mnie z moimi przyjaciółkami. Drzewo, królowa, majestatyczne, opowiadaczka historii i powierniczka tajemnic, stała towarzyszka. Piękno w czystej i delikatnej postaci. Z niecierpliwością czekam na spotkanie z Tobą, Twoimi przyjaciółmi i ukochanymi w Poznaniu w Galerii Pyramida, która jest jednym z najpiękniejszych i najbardziej inspirujących miejsc w jednym z najpiękniejszych miast, jakie znam, i oczywiście z najlepszymi ludźmi ❤. PEACE" Na wystawie „Drzewo, moja przyjaciółka” Edda Mann prezentuje obrazy szerokiej gamy drzew, z których większość rośnie w Berlinie i Poznaniu. Jej ludzkie przyjaciółki to najważniejsze towarzyszki Eddy Mann. Kobiety, które stały u jej boku w chwilach przełomowych, gdy ziemia zaczynała drżeć, a ból ją przytłaczał. Chwile, w których nadzieja na poprawę, a może nawet szczęście i spokój, przemijały. Jednak dzieli się z nimi również radością, łzami w oczach i pięknymi momentami. Ukształtowały jej życie i bez tych przyjaciółek nie byłaby tam, gdzie jest dzisiaj. W języku niemieckim drzewo jest klasyfikowane jako męskie, ale Edda Mann postrzega je jako żeńskie, w dużej mierze ze względu na głębokie przyjaźnie, jakie łączy ją z przyjaciółkami. Maluje drzewa, swoje stałe towarzyszki, przyjaciółki w Berlinie, a także te, które przykuły jej uwagę w Poznaniu i innych miejscach. Drzewa, które komunikowały się z nią i ją inspirowały. Drzewo oferuje cień, świeże powietrze, ciągłą zmianę; Doświadczyło więcej niż osoba, która na nie patrzy, i prawdopodobnie przeżyje ją. Drzewo jest królową, majestatyczne, opowiadaczką historii i strażnikiem tajemnic, pięknem w czystej i delikatnej postaci. NANNING 💥 It’s completely impossible to describe the past 2 weeks in Guangxi, China. This post tries to capture the feeling in the capital of this autonomous region. The exhibition “CATCH THE WIND” at the Nanning Library was it’s beautiful final ❤️‍🔥 I am beyond grateful for the possibility to show some of my in-Berlin-made-works, like my”Hanngings 1-3”, together with in-Nanning-made-oil-paintings amongst such great works from the Berlin based artists: @evelynsommerhoff @hartmut.jahn @ila.wingen @zich.photo 💓💞💗💕 And of course our absolutely stunning and talented Chinese artist ❤️ (see their names in @hartmut.jahn / my previous post!) Traveling together and seeing our creative results (more pics will follow) at the end of this heart filled journey was an absolute amazing experience! Thank you for sharing! I’m so happy to announce my first exhibition of this year 💥 Together with the fantastic @kerstin.jacobsen and the special guest Alvaro Bezanilla @abc.ceramicas “CONJOINT” Opening: Friday: 20th of February, 6pm🥂 Aaron-Bernstein-Platz 3 10117 Berlin aka @am.tacheles 💫 @kerstin.jacobsen - a fashion photographer - and me know each other since around 2013. At that time I ran the concept store “Konk,” where I curated unique fashion and jewelry by Berlin based designers. Kerstin was already photographing for international - and Berlin fashion designers and magazines at that time. That’s how our paths crossed. We met, really liked each other, and spoke a common creative language from the very beginning. Then we lost touch. Last year we met again. Since then we are united once again by our joy in color, our desire for surprises in our works, our rediscovered friendship and our courage to dare to do something unusual 💥😁💫 This shared energy has now culminated in the exhibition “Conjoint”—an artistic connection between two positions that inspire, reflect, and intensify each other. @abc.ceramicas / Alvaro Bezanilla is a ceramic artist from Berlin. Me and him met just briefly @kastanienberlin_ and we really liked each others works. JANUARY ✨ So far the best I had for years! Saying goodbye to my studio 💔 and hello to a new one in February ❤️‍🔥 Cooking and eating a lot and finally bought a new second hand dishwasher 💫 Got a call from an old friend and got another exhibition (also in February) confirmed ~ in an impressive space💥 Was feeding my soul with beautiful music🌟 And am so grateful for my dearest friends 🧑‍🎤 And yes the cold is almost unbearable but at least there is some snow once in a while 🤍 Stay warm and kind and tuned 🤘💖💫 PEACE 🕊️
