The winner of the 2025 Victoria Wood Award is @comedyclub4kids !
Comedy Club 4 Kids started at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2005, when comedian and writer James Campbell decided it wasn’t fair that only adults got to laugh at stand-up comedy and children don’t, when kids like to laugh a lot too.
Since 2010, CC4K has been run by Isabelle Adam, Tiernan Douieb and Melissa O’Brien, and has expanded from one London residency to being countrywide, getting the very best stand-up comedians to do safe and relevant material for children aged 6+ and their families.
Putting on shows all over the UK (and the rest of the world too!) they’ve performed at festivals, theatres, clubs, schools, charities, theme parks and more.
They also provide workshops which teach children the basics of how to do stand-up comedy. This improves confidence, presentation and language skills and has positive effects on students’ mental health and wellbeing. Several of their workshop graduates have gone on to continue doing stand-up as adults.
They recently set up a Community Interest Company side to CC4K to bring more workshops to schools and youth groups, with the hope they’ll reach even more children around the UK.
Not only that, but CC4K also has the Radio Nonsense podcast, which has been nominated for two podcast awards.
