Join us this year to challenge, inspire and excite your child’s mind! 🧠 [ID] 1. A group of children dancing and smiling, waving their arms in the air. At this year’s Festival, we’re bringing real stories to the stage 🌟 Audiences will experience the universal desire to belong at the centre of The Unlikely Friendship of Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl, perseverance in Boys Don’t Dance, a sensory exploration of motherhood in ISLAND, and awkward growing pains in Cringe. These autobiographical shows highlight real lives, memories and experiences that are raw, funny and full of heart. 🧡 📸: Tommy Ga-Ken Wan, Susan Hay [ID] – A woman with bright red hair is hanging upside down in the air with her arm reached out, and a man crouching on the ground reaching up towards her. – Two men show with their arms raised above their head in a synchronised pose, one man is sat in a wheelchair while the other is standing behind him. – Baby looking towards the camera while held by the mother. – A young boy with shocked wide eyes and an open mouth, against an orange background.

We met up with PALS creator Ellen Renton and performers @NandiHudson and Brooke Walker to chat about how the performance is taking shape as they continue to develop the work. PALS is a musical theatre piece developed specifically for visually impaired children and their families to share an experience together, without the blind/VI child feeling they are missing details that enhance the sighted audience’s understanding or enjoyment. This piece will be shared as a work in progress as part of @bibubiennal Festival and as part of Edinburgh International Children's Festival for Festival delegates. PALS is an Unlimited UK Partner Award 2025 commission with Imaginate, made possible thanks to funding from Creative Scotland.
