A special congratulations to Dr. Tracy Cole!
Earlier this week we held a special hooding ceremony at the ECU Community School so our youngest scholars could celebrate Dr. Cole receiving her Ed.D. this semester. We are extremely grateful to have Dr. Cole leading ECUCS!
Last Thursday, we celebrated our seniors at our annual Senior Banquet, a special tradition recognizing them one final time before graduation.
Held at The Rickhouse, the evening gave us the opportunity to reflect on accomplishments, celebrate milestones and honor the hard work that brought our students to this moment as they prepare for the next step as future educators.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible, including our College of Education and Academic Success Center staff and student leaders.
Congratulations to our Spring 2026 graduates! We are proud of all you have accomplished and cannot wait to see the impact you will make in classrooms and communities across North Carolina and beyond.

Congratulations to Dr. Dionna D. Manning on being named a Treasured Pirate at ECU!
The Treasured Pirate award recognizes faculty and staff whose outstanding performance and distinguished accomplishments create extraordinary outcomes for the university, its people and the communities ECU serves.
As executive director of student engagement, student success, scholarship and development in the College of Education, Dr. Manning continues to expand opportunities for ECU students, families and alumni through transformative leadership and a deep commitment to student success.
During the nomination period, Dr. Manning increased annual and multi-year scholarships for teacher education majors, developed leadership tracks for students in the Education Community of Scholars and led the return of the NC Teaching Fellows program to ECU.
Through her leadership, the College of Education significantly expanded scholarship opportunities for future educators, doubling four-year scholarship awards and creating greater access to financial support for students.
In August 2024, Dr. Manning helped bring back the NC Teaching Fellows program to ECU. Within one year, ECU became home to the second-largest cohort among the 10 participating campuses.
Through her servant leadership and dedication to student success, Dr. Manning continues to create transformative opportunities that empower students and strengthen ECU’s mission.
Join us in congratulating Dr. Manning!
