The Barn Modern is nestled in the woods and overlooks a field with its simple beauty.
The exposed beams compliment the living room to bring depth and light to the space - a masterpiece.
Once part of a grand summer estate, this c.1870 carriage barn has lived many lives — from housing cars during World War II to serving as the renowned show barn of horseman Junie Kulp.
When the structure came into our care, it had weathered decades of neglect but retained its remarkable bones. We worked with the new owners to thoughtfully restore and adapt the 9,750 SF barn into a home and stable that honors its rich history while embracing modern living.
The center of the “U”-shaped plan now serves as a complete residence, featuring a state-of-the-art kitchen, expansive primary suite, guest quarters, and home office — all highlighting the original heavy timber construction. The stables were returned to their former splendor, once again ready to welcome horses into this storied property.
