When Yawei suggested we do a matriarchy themed dance, it felt like the absolute right time to do exactly that. Celebrating and uplifting the matriarchy is about more than uplifting womxn and fems, though that will definitely be happening! It’s about celebrating and uplifting the concepts of community, care, reciprocity, joy, rest, and embracing the cyclical nature of humanity outside of the constant pressure to produce. It’s about connecting with each other and connecting with the threads of human experience that weave us all together. ‼️Hey dance fam ‼️ The Oklahoma weather is weathering and we’re watching carefully. So far our plan is to go on with the dance tonight at our outdoor location, 8420 Ridgeway Rd, but with a caveat: ⚡️ We are starting early!! (or, rather, on time 😄) We will be starting the opening PROMPTLY at 7 so we ask that you arrive early to get comfy before we begin! Most of ya’ll know we typically start our opening at 7:30, but in order to get finished in time for what is currently the forecasted arrival of weather we are getting our butts in gear this evening so folks can head out in time to safely get home. ✨ We will be keeping a close eye, or a few close eyes, on the incoming storms and will cancel closer to the event in case of dangerous conditions coming in earlier than expected. We always love to dance with y’all, but more than anything we want you safe and dry! Ben Hill of internationally renown musical duo Cuervo Cuervo returns hot off a short tour in Mexico to DJ our first outdoor dance of the season at his very own tree and magic filled property just outside of OKC, aptly and lovingly referred to as “The Land”.
