🇨🇴 Half of all cases of tech-facilitated sexual exploitation and abuse in Colombia were perpetrated by someone the child knew.
This includes family members, romantic partners, and friends.
New #DisruptingHarm findings show that this form of abuse is often rooted in existing relationships and not just anonymous online interactions.

More than 1 in every 5 children in Colombia were subjected to technology-facilitated sexual exploitation and abuse in just one year, according to new #DisruptingHarm research presented during yesterday’s press conference in Bogotá by @ECPAT@INTERPOL_HQ@SafeOnline and @UNICEFInnocenti .
Over a third of children never told anyone, because they didn’t know where to go or who to tell, or felt ashamed and blamed themselves.
Preventing and addressing this violence requires:
🟣 tackling stigma and harmful stereotypes that keep victims silent.
🟣 equipping families, schools, and professionals to support children without blame or judgement
🟣 ensuring safe, accessible reporting and support for all children
