๐ Deep sea mining is becoming a major global conversation - but what does it actually mean for the Caribbean?
From our fisheries and tourism economies to marine ecosystems and coastal communities, this is an issue that could affect the region in significant ways. Yet thereโs still very limited in-depth Caribbean journalism helping audiences understand whatโs happening and whatโs at stake.
Thatโs why we created the Caribbean Deep Sea Mining Media Fellowship โจ
This fellowship will support Caribbean journalists with the training, mentorship, editorial guidance, and publication assistance needed to produce strong, impactful reporting on deep sea mining and its regional implications.
Because these conversations need context.
They need accountability.
And they need Caribbean storytellers at the centre of them. ๐

2025 was just the beginning, 2026 we doubled the movement ๐โก๏ธ๐
More youth, more voices, more action for our oceans and our future.
GGI 2026 showed whatโs possible when young people are given the space, tools, and belief to lead. And weโre not stopping here.
Weโre building toward an even bigger GGI 2027, but to keep this momentum alive, we need your support.
Invest in youth. Back climate action. Power the next generation of leaders. Support @ecovybz and @kneyzusenergy to continue this momentum.
Special thanks to @andrewbisnath for capturing these moments and @briantvio for creating this amazing reel and always supporting our projects! Stay tuned for more โก๏ธ

๐That is exactly why spaces like the Green Generation Initiative matter.
๐ฅThis yearโs workshop, Khadija Stewart of Eco Vybz and Kneyone Murray of Kneyzus Energy, brought together over 40 young people from across Trinidad and Tobago for hands-on climate learning.
๐กAccording to UNICEF, nearly 1 billion children are at โextremely high riskโ from the impacts of climate change making youth engagement and climate education more urgent now than ever.
๐Climate Analytics Caribbean is so thrilled to support and encourage spaces that empower young people with the knowledge and opportunities to lead climate action in the Caribbean.

๐ Deep sea mining is becoming a global conversation โ and our region is part of that story. The decisions being made now could shape our oceans, our economies, and our communities for generations.
But hereโs the thingโฆWeโre not telling enough of these stories. And we need to.
Thatโs why weโre launching the Caribbean Deep Sea Mining Media Fellowship, in partnership with Jamaican Environment Trust (JET), RISE UP for the Ocean, and EcoVybz Environmental Creatives.
This is a 2-month opportunity for Caribbean journalists to: โ๐ฝ Produce and publish an in-depth story ๐ง Be part of a podcast episode ๐ง Learn directly from experts and editors ๐ Join a regional network of storytellers
Whether youโre already covering climate issues or looking to step into this space โ this is your chance to tell stories that truly matter.
