Calling for submissions to our film series, Headwaters to Horizons! Submit your film by May 22: ecotrust.org/submit-film (link in bio!) We invite both professional and amateur filmmakers, as well as fellow nonprofits and community-based organizations that have invested in filmmaking to tell the stories about the region, to submit films that will be screened at our film series later this year. There is no submission fee! The film series events will be held on August 19, September 26, and October 21. While in Sitka, Alaska last week, our team member Suzie O'Neill visited a local oyster farm called @MerrickShellfish and connected with Angie Bowers, a professor at the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS). Angie leads the Alaska Aquaculture Semester at UAS in Sitka. If you're looking for a hands-on, immersive mariculture training program, look no further! Last week, Suzie O'Neill, Jon Bonkoski, and Meghan Stangeland from our Coastal Communities and Fisheries Team visited Sitka, Alaska for the @SustainableSoutheast Partnership (SSP) Spring Retreat. SSP is a collective impact network working to strengthen cultural, ecological, and economic resilience across Southeast Alaska. Team members bring a variety of expertise and include classroom educators, administrators, nutrition services staff, and community partners. With the support of a coach, teams spend the school year putting their plans into action and strengthening their capacity to integrate lasting impacts across classrooms, cafeterias, and communities.
