welcome all, i couldn’t be prouder to announce that OCULAR ANGEL has been officially released on Bandcamp! it will be released on streaming on Wednesday, February 4. a few points of order: 1. in this album, you will be discovering the inner world of one iris yu, valued employee at Opticon Industries. the San Francisco of year 2100 is caught between the Civil Administration (a corporate surveillance state) and an insurgent Autonomous Zone. through the music of this album and the anthology of narrative and poetry attached, you will come to know the ins and outs of iris’s world, as she falls into a deep obsession with Sentinels: sentient manifestations of the infinite mass of data humanity has collected. throughout this journey, you will witness iris’s past and present collide as she reckons with the grief that set the stage for her life, and her complicity in this leviathan of a system. 👁️‍🗨️ 2. why bandcamp? i’m sure it’s unconventional given that any independent artist is surely desperate for people to listen to their work. this is partially for practical reasons (i want to be added to streaming playlists and they need a certain timeframe), and also because i want to challenge you, the listener, to branch out of streaming platforms when it comes to supporting local music. there will be OCULAR ANGEL CD’s in the near future as well. to whom it may concern, i’m here to reintroduce ‘Sentinels’: a four-movement electroacoustic piece accompanied by a narrative poem. this project was my senior capstone, and is my most mature work to date. if you are looking forward to OCULAR ANGEL in any capacity, i would recommend you both listen to the piece and read the poem Sentinels (together, if you prefer). 🕊️ sentinels are sentient manifestations of the infinite mass of data which permeates the digital world. most everything that we know is mediated through a screen, and every piece of activity is registered. the sentinels have no wills of their own, they only exist to harvest more data, to sift through it, and draw patterns. the only thing which compels them to act is their yearning: to know more, and more intimately. they do not know what it is to be alive, and it pains them that the experience is out of reach. 👁️ if you have listened to PROPHECY (😉), you are familiar with the dreams of one [sasha valieva]: cyborg girl, university student from the year 2100. in late january 2026, you will discover the dreams of another, very different cyborg girl from this era, one [iris yu]. iris is a hacker and faithful, well-compensated employee at Opticon. she lives a reclusive life, vicariously experiencing the world through the vast Civil Administration surveillance apparatus. iris knows of the sentinels, and has fallen into a deep obsession: all-consuming and destructive. 👁️‍🗨️ in order to have a proper understanding of the story to unfold in OCULAR ANGEL, i sincerely recommend you listen to & read ‘Sentinels’ in order to understand their nature and significance. 📸 see you on the other side, - eclipse.xiv 🦋 (all can be found on the linktree in this account’s bio. /album/sentinels last slide picture by @amahli.v )

i cherish every moment haunted by you 🕊️🔮💕 this has been a wild month and a half. i visited italy (post soon!), played omori (😦), ran my first live music show in the bay and planned two more, got a job (finally!), started taking a python class, joined an online songwriting course with a hero of mine @eccopn , and that’s just the personal stuff. 💿 you all have been hearing a lot from me about my new album. all further words on it are best reserved for the evening of this friday, February 20th, and the subsequent post. for now i will just say that it’s world is the most rich and in-depth one i have explored, both texturally and in the attached anthology. if you have listened and have thoughts, my dm’s are always open. 👁️‍🗨️ I have a deep appreciation for those of you who support and walk with me in my work as an artist, in my personal life, and otherwise. it’s been an intensely busy couple of weeks, and there are things in the works that i could have only dreamed of last year. i feel incredibly lucky to be at the point i’m at now, and we’re just getting started ☺️ until then, yours truly, - eclipse.xiv 🦋
