Announcing our next session of Poets & Storytellers Open. We’ll be gathering at Wull & Oak in Downtown Hopewell on May 8th for an evening of poetry and conversation. P&SO welcomes everyone to bring their ORIGINAL poetry or prose, polished or in progress, to this wonderful space. We love the poetry hits and the standards, but P&SO is a space for writers performing or working out their original pieces. The open mic signup list will be capped at 12 readers. The list does fill up quickly, so be sure to arrive on time to secure a spot! Each performer will have up to 5 minutes to share their work. For those who would only like to watch the performances, you’re more than welcome to also join our audience. The event is free and open for all to enjoy, but we do welcome donations to help keep the event funded. Joining us as our feature for our May session of P&SO is JR Engalla (@selengvllv ) from out in Jersey City. Per JR, he’s just another Filipino-American born and raised in Jersey City off West Side Avenue. He’s still writing a better bio, but for now, he’s a writer that’s dusting off his pen, examining his landscape, and hopefully, sharing work that resonates. As usual for our poet features, we’ll have a Q&A session following the Indigo’s set. Details for the evening: 6:50 PM - doors/open mic signup begins* 7:15 to 8:15 PM - open mic 8:30 to 9:00 PM - featured poet: JR Engalla Wull & Oak is located at: 10 E. Broad St. Hopewell, NJ Light refreshments will be provided. See you there! *Please be mindful that W&O closes at 6PM on Friday evenings, and we use the next 50 minutes to rearrange and set up the space before opening back up for the event. #EchoThreadBooks #WullAndOak #PoetsAndStorytellersOpen #PaSO #poetryopenmic @wullandoak @downtownhopewell

Spring is here, the daylight is lasting a little longer, and we’re grateful for nature to be blossoming again (not that winter isn’t beautiful). Thank you to the readers and audience who joined us for April’s Poets & Storytellers Open. We’re excited to have been able to host Colby Cedar Smith (@colby_cedar_smith ) for the evening as our featured poet. In a time where women’s experiences and autonomy are being stripped of meaningful support and acknowledgement, Colby’s set was a reminder of the beauty and strength and life that women carry within them. We’re still thinking about how the room felt after such a heartfelt message, which was followed by a wonderful conversation about discovering one’s voice by stepping outside of the conventional poet’s trajectory, the endurance of writing novel-length verse, and tapping into divinity and the goddess as guides for inspiration. Wull & Oak, we’re always grateful for your wonderful shop for hosting us. Everyone else, keep coming out and making this space something special. As always, make sure to out for your neighbors and take care of one another. See you next month. #EchoThreadBooks #PoetsAndStorytellersOpen #Poetry #poetryopenmic #downtownhopewell njpoetry EchoThreadProjects

Thank you to everyone who came out to read and spend the evening with us for our March session of Poets & Storytellers Open. We’ve been looking forward to having our good friend J. T. Trigonis (@trigonis ) come out for some time now, and he performed a wonderful set of poems from his new book, Through the Wreckage, and some extras. Afterwards, we sat and talked about cars and metaphor, growing as an artist through experiencing rejection, balancing a life of many roles, and our love for NJ diners. Many thanks to all again, unending thanks to Wull & Oak for the space to hold our poetry event, and we’ll see you at the next one! As always, make sure to out for your neighbors. Community is more than just a space, it’s action. #EchoThreadBooks #PoetsAndStorytellersOpen #Poetry #poetryopenmic #downtownhopewell

Grateful to all who came out to attend our February session of Poets & Storytellers Open, to everyone who read, and to Indigo Speaks (@indigospeaks ) for bringing her poetry and presence to our space. Indigo delivered a powerful set of spoken word, then sat down with us to talk about her entry into the spoken word world, her embodiment of the craft, and ideas of self love and growth from wounds. An incredible evening overall. Thank you all again, thank you Wull & Oak for the space to hold our poetry event, and until the next one! Don’t forget… Look out for your neighbors. Take care of one another. #EchoThreadBooks #PoetsAndStorytellersOpen #Poetry #poetryopenmic #downtownhopewell njpoetry EchoThreadProjects

A look back on our first P&SO of 2026. We’re grateful to everyone who came out to support and to share their work. Thank you to our featured poet Hugo dos Santos (@hugofdossantos ) for sharing his poetry and taking us through passages of his upcoming collection, Reduction in Force, and for sitting down with us afterwards for a wonderful conversation about his poetry and navigating experiences and ideas around labor and self-perception in relation to labor that led to the writing of his collection. Thank you all again, and we’ll see you soon. Keep looking out for one another. #EchoThreadBooks #PoetsAndStorytellersOpen #Poetry #poetryopenmic #echothreadprojects
