EYES ON 🌟 Visual artist Dino Ahmad Ali, supported by Nidhal Chemengui and Wael Bouargoub for the sound design and curation, presents L’Arbre à paroles at the legendary Ksar El Ferch. This optical art installation gives a voice to heritage by placing human testimony at the heart of the work. 🪾L’arbre à paroles,🪾 In celebration of the next EFEST CAMP, Syrian artist Dino Ahmed Ali presents a site-specific creation where the memory of the place, collective participation, and visual experience intersect. His artwork invites visitors to discover Ksar el Farch, through the perspectives and voices of those who inhabit it and bring it to life today. Throwback to Day 2 of our colloquium in Tataouine. We spent the day on the ground at « Domaine Oued Elkhil, » a beautiful eco-farm dedicated to permaculture and local biodiversity. Seeing their natural farming methods up close was the perfect way to connect scientific ideas with real-world solutions for the environment. After the visit, our group of experts and local partners sat down for a collective brainstorming session. The goal was simple: take everything we learned and turn it into one concrete action to help the region face climate change. It was all about moving from talk to action, combining tradition with new ideas to build a more resilient future for the territory. LIVE SOUND TECHNICIAN TRAINING April 6–10, 2026 A five-day intensive training for four technicians from the Tataouine region, aimed at strengthening their skills in live sound. The training combined theory and practice, covering: Preparation and installation of sound systems Use of equipment (microphones, consoles, speakers) Sound adjustment and optimization techniques Working in real conditions (concerts, live performances) This experience contributes to strengthening local skills and opening new professional opportunities, with the possibility to take part in E-Fest. AGORA E-FEST — Axis 2: Water and Soil As part of the Agora discussions, this second axis focused on a key issue for arid regions: water and soil quality. In Tataouine, water scarcity, soil degradation, and the weakening of collective management systems make these challenges even more urgent. This session created space to explore these realities and share practical approaches. Discussions highlighted traditional systems such as jessour and tabias, along with agro-ecological practices adapted to these environments—not as past solutions, but as tools that still work today to support local resilience. A moment of exchange between knowledge, experiences, and perspectives, to think about grounded and practical responses together. AGORA E-FEST took place last weekend at Ksar El Ferch, as part of E-Fest Camp. Launched as a space for open dialogue, the Agora brings together local communities, researchers, civil society, and institutions to exchange ideas around the challenges facing the Tataouine region. The first theme focused on knowledge, intangible heritage, and innovation. It explored how traditional knowledge — built over time by local communities, especially women and elders — can connect with scientific approaches to create new, grounded solutions for arid regions. Ksar El Ferch is one of the largest ksour in the south of Tunisia. It was built by local communities to store food and protect what mattered to them. Today, it needs care. E-Fest Camp is a project where we bring together community, education, technology, music, and culture to support the restoration of this place. Every contribution, simply by being present and joining us, supports this work. We’re really happy to share that the restoration of the ksar’s entrance and the coffee space is now complete. More restoration is already in progress. Thank you to everyone who came, supported, and believed in this project. Launched in 2025, this space for civic dialogue is transforming into a symposium this year, both scientific and participatory. The final chapter of our E-FEST Camp 2026 Ghomrassen series features the incredible Rahma Yahyaoui. 🫟🖌️ An interior architect and visual artist, Rahma led a transformative workshop where art became therapy. By mixing sand, plaster, and recycled materials, children moved from hesitation to total immersion—literally getting their hands dirty to clear their minds. The result? Sensory Exploration: Using raw textures to release stress. Catharsis: Turning personal struggles into vibrant, organic 3D compositions.
